We spent three nights at Maguire's Guesthouse in June 08, on the way to and from a trip into the Amazon. We knew we were onto a winner when Clive picked us up at Manaus Airport with a smile and a warm welcome. The Guesthouse itself backs onto original rainforest - a stunning sight to wake up to each morning. Clive and Naice were amazing hosts, friendly and committed to making sure we had a great time in Manaus. The room where we stayed was spacious, light and private. We like dogs so we loved the company of grumpy Ozzy and frenetic Kelly. We thoroughly recommend Maguire's - great for couples especially wanting something a bit quieter, away from the bustle of downtown Manaus or the grand-central station feeling of the Tropical. And don't miss the opportunity to do some trips with Clive on his boat the Shamrock - brilliant!

I stayed at the questhouse for short periods during Feb/March as a base to travel the Amazon and it felt like returning home after each trip. Clive and his wife are knowledgeable about the region and very happy to share their knowledge and experience which is much appreciated when your portugese is not up to scratch. The house itself, bordering onto rainforest is a great vantage point to observe wildlife from the comfort of modern conveniences such as a pool and airconditioned rooms. Another great advantage is their positioning close to the airport but not inside urban Manaus itself. I much appreciated the peace and tranquil atmosphere, but there is a busstop to Manaus centre only 10min. walk away. It is best described as a little oasis outside the urban wilderness of Manaus and I would certainly recommended this questhouse to anyone with limited or no knowledge of Brazil or the rainforest as a gentle introduction into a very different world.

Modern, clean, spacious, wheelchair accessible guesthouse. The grounds are beautiful with areas to relax and birds and wildlife to see - great pool too. Clive and Naice were gracious hosts and extremely helpful. Loved the dogs - Ozzy & Kelly!
