There is no shortage of fish restaurants along the northeast coast of Brazil, but most cook fish without any imagination and almost never do justice to the excellent fish variety available. The Wanchako chef used her good taste and imagination to adapt some of the best Peruvian recipes to the local fish, with mouth-watering results. I travel often to Maceio on business and make a point of going to Wanchako almost every time. My favorite is Miss Gladys. Try the mixed ceviche as a starter. The decor tries to reproduce a Peruvian atmosphere, with mixed results. The service could be improved, it is typically poor as in most Maceio restaurants.
