“Wonderful view but very basic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

I stayed in room 21 which, with the balcony and hammock is amazing. The view is one of the best views on the planet. After negotiating the road of death in the mist, in the morning when I opened the shutters, the mists had cleared and I was looking out over banana plantations with parrots flying past- utterly out of this world. BUT, if youve been travelling around Bolivia as I did, you will be aware that it is a third world country. Standards are in no way the same as in England. This is an extremely basic hotel. It is very cheap. I enjoyed the experience very much but dont expect much in the way of facilities etc. The view is what you go for.

Room Tip: Room 21 every time.

If you are looking for a chill-out paradise, this is the place. We stayed here for 5 days after completing the worlds most dangerous road. We stayed in one of the suites with amazing views over the mountains and valley. We spend our days relaxing by the pool, playing at the pool table and drinking lovely drinks prepared by the sweet staff. It's not a 5 star hotel and restaurant, but for what you're paying it's amazing value for money.

This has been a great hotel years ago. Fantastic location with amazing view and nice garden and pool. But unfortunately thats all about it...! The hotel should get a complete overhaul. A good maintenance is missing!! The rooms are shabby and humid. A cleaning staff exists but actually I have no idea what they are paid for if spiderwebs and dust are found all over in the room and bathroom. Attention is unremarkable apart from the drunken attendance staff in the morning. But the worst was that we got our binoculars stolen from the room...
Go here if you don´t care about the above and you just want to enjoy the location and the view. Stay away if you look for a hotel where you want to feel welcome!

The view is amazing, but it does not compensate for all of the other horrible aspects. The rooms are unkempt, drab, smelly, and generally run-down. Breakfast is meager. The management is rude and uncooperative. Our reservation was undone a day before we arrived, though a room was somehow found when we finally got there: this, only after a fight. And the cost? Try $90 a night for a family of four.

If there were no other place to stay, hey, it wouldn't be so bad. But there are some great new family-run hotels and hostels. Try walking a bit further to Sol y Luna, or to Villa Bonita, or down in Yalosa at Senda Verde. Just don't stay here.

Room Tip: Stay away!

A room with a balcony for two is now $50/night, which is far too high. If the service was good or the beds nice, maybe, but here you are paying for the legacy of what used to be the best in town.

Stayed there in september for 2 nights. The owner Marta was very rude, no smile and not helpful at all very unprofessional. The staff on the other hand was very nice and friendly. specially Kurt who explained to us where everything was. The view from the hotel was also amazing.
