Clean, nicely furnished, spacious rooms. Balcony. Great view. Quiet (we asked for a room away from the mosque.). Good location. Good English spoken. Good service. The staff seemed a bit stiff at first, but they were very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant made us traditional Albanian dishes that were not on the menu. Oven cooked veal with ricotta cheese, excellent. Good service. Breakfast was ok. A lot of sweets.

Make sure to visit the terrace bar with drinks, ice-creams, desserts and good views!

I stayed there for one night two weeks ago. Generally a good choice to stay. The room that i stayed was a large one, good furnished and very clean. The staff seemed polite but not very friendly. They behaved too formally. Maybe this is typical behaviour of Albanian people. The only bad thing I must say about the hotel is wifi. I could join access while I'm near the reception desk. It doesn't work other sides of the hotel at all. And I must say that I ate one of the best dessert in my life in this hotel's restaurant. Unfortunately I forgot to ask to the staff it's name....

I've stayed here 3 times in the last year and have no intention of trying another hotel in the same town. Spotlessly clean in every corner. The rooms are a good size and tastefully furnished. The staff are brilliant and restaurant provides a great dinner menu. A 24 hour doorman makes sure parking spaces are available for guests right outside the door. The reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because the wireless internet can only be used whilst sitting at the table opposite the reception desk. If this table is occupied then you have to stand at the desk to get a usable connection.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back of the hotel and you get a lovely terrace.

We stayed one night in room 105 at the frontside of the hotel. It was a good, modern and soundproof room; we had a good night sleep. The hotel has a good location at the beginning of a street free of traffic and with a lot of bars/restaurants. The breakfast is o.k. and you don’t pay to much. We certainly would advise you to stay at the Collosseo hotel when you are looking for a good place to sleep. Although we have no complaints about the building of the hotel , some immaterial things need attention for a 4 star hotel. First, when we arrived, we had the fastest check-inn ever and we even had the idea we were not welcome. Check-out was more friendly. Secondly, when a hotel has golden chandeliers, a lobby with fine decoration and dining rooms in a classic style, you expect soft background music in the reception and when you have breakfast. Please, do something about the loud (disco) music….

The most central - located on the main pedestrian street and just opposite the Great Mosque. This hotel is new (my stay was in April 2012), with all new furniture, sheets and towels - very clean. Large rooms, some with balconies, an elevator. If you wake easily ask for a room not facing the front, as the call for prayer is quite loud. The staff is polite but not too friendly. The LAN-cable internet access in the rooms did not work at the time of my stay (there was WI-FI in the lobby/restaurant area), and the advertised pool and sauna were not in operation.

Room Tip: If you wake easily ask for a room not facing the front, as the call for prayer from Great Mosque is...

There is lots to like about Hotel Colosseo and a few things you may want to consider before booking.

First the things to like: lovely room (although the bathroom is very small and the shower is tough for a large or tall man - claustrophobic even for a short woman), friendly staff, beautiful decor in the common areas, great food at the restaurant whether it is the European breakfast or lemon soup and pizza. The lobby was sparkling, quite beautiful. I was particularly fascinated by the use of overhead lighting. Each section of the lobby had its own elaborate grid of chandeliers. The downstairs coffee bars were lively and well populated at all times of day.

What's not to like? Well, that depends on your point of view. The hotel is located on a paved walk street so it's not car noise you'll hear, it is the call to prayer. Christian and Muslim alike, the houses of worship are directly across from the hotel. Personally, I found the Muslim call to prayer (5 a.m.) quite nice even though it is broadcast through incredibly loud speakers. It drove my husband crazy. I also liked the bells from the christian church. Again, my husband wasn't enamored with the sound. I have no idea if other rooms were quieter, but ours looked out over the walk-street and directly at the mosque so there was no escaping the noise.

The Internet was a bit of a problem. You could not access it in your room. In fact, the only place you could access the Internet was a little square patch of real estate in the lobby. I have no idea why that would be but if three people wanted to check their email the space was full. If you didn't care about staying connected then there were no worries.

Finally, get used to incredibly loud rock music in the lobby areas at all times. Usually, disco music. It was a bit tough to take early in the morning but also entertaining. I have never heard music like that played in a lobby much less before breakfast.

I would definitely recommend the hotel as long as you are aware of the mosque and church and don't mind dance music to start your day.

Clean, modern, luxurious hotel in downtown Shkoder. This hotel was very Western European. Complimentary breakfast included in rates. Room was comfortable with many modern amenities and a balcony. Free wi-fi in the lobby but not in the rooms. For all that was offered hotel prices were reasonable from a North American standpoint. Restaurant and Cafe(s) in hotel were constantly full of cigarette smoke. Square toilette seat was very uncomfortable, and call to prayer from a mosque next-door was a nuisance, especially at 5am. If I find myself in Shkoder I would definitely return again as all of the positives outweigh the few negatives.
