“Excellent place !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

To be short, I would say that this hotel is the perfect mirror of Albania : warm place with a boss and the whole staff who, in addition to be very welcomming, have been also very helpful to me and good advisors for the rest of my trip in bicyle.

Also important things to say are that it's very clean and the whole place is designed and decorated a traditional albanian way (ca a vraiment de la gueule comme on dit en Francais !!!), with farms' objects, old pictures and portraits etc..

Perfect place to be in Shkoder !!!!

You should perhaps eat here once, but avoid the hotel.
The restaurant is indeed very atmospheric, but equally expensive.

The rooms have some "authentic" decoration, but otherwise are nothing special. Booking.com reservations are more expensive so effectively you pay the commission itself. Incidentally, the booking.com offer is without breakfast, but actually it does include breakfast.

When I arrived in the middle of the afternoon I made the mistake to say that wanted to eat something. I thought of a snack but quickly I was lured into an enormous meal-at an enormous price. This is Balkan, I should have been more carful.

I quickly moved to hotel Kaduka which is actually more centrally located, at about half the price.

I learned that in a "new" city after arrival you should not only be careful with dishonest taxi drivers but also with greedy hotel managers.

My recommendation: have a drink in the hotel, or
perhaps a meal, but stay somewhere else.

In August 2013, we stayed at Hotel Tradita Ghek & Tosk for two nights (not consecutively, we went to Montenegro in between) and were absolutely pleased with everything the hotel offered.

The hotel itself is a beautiful and well-preserved historical building and is quite centrally located – just a few hundred metres or ten minutes’ walk from the heart of the city. It is obvious that the name Tradita Ghek and Tosk is not just a gimmick. The hotel’s commitment in giving visitors a taste of the Albanian tradition is reflected in the furnishings, the artifacts that are placed everywhere (including the rooms) and, above all, the museum that guests can visit for free. Among the items on display are some photos of Pietro Marubi which allows visitors to catch a glimpse of how Albania and its people were like some 100 years ago. The hotel also has a few books on Marubi’s amazing photo collection which they were happy to let me take to the room to read.

The restaurant is great and the food for breakfast and lunch (we did not have dinner there) were delicious and, again, traditional. The only thing about the lunch was that it was not a la carte and there was simply too many dishes in the set menu for us. One should maybe ask for the menu.

To cap it all, the service is unparalleled. The owner and his wife are always there for a friendly chat and to help make travel arrangements upon request. The morning we went to Komani to take the ferry to Fierze, he arranged for some breakfast for us to take away and for the minivan to come to the hotel to pick us up at 6:30.

There was a small episode that showed how remarkable the service of the hotel was. Bicycles were provided for guests’ use. My wife, who is not a seasoned biker, tried to find one with a low seat but without success. The staff member helped to adjust the seat posts of some bikes to the lowest position, but it was still too high by her “Asian” standard. He could have simply said, “sorry, I tried my best” and left it like that, but he went to speak to an artisan who was working a few metres away. To our amazement, the artisan came to take the seat post off one bike and sawed a couple of inches off it! My wife was absolutely delighted and relieved. So during our stay there, she was able to use the converted bike to go with me to Rozafa Castle, Lake Shkodra and the city centre. Talk about tailor-made service!

My and my boyfriend stayed to Tradit a few days. We had The suite which made our stay even more special and we loved so much!
The service is perfect, you can ask for anything they will do they possible for you and with the smile. The room was fresh so no problem for sleeping during the hot night. The location is also very great, near of everything.
The restaurant is very very good with locale food, very tasty! The owner and his wife are 2 very good persons who speak many languages and can help to get solutions to go and visit the mountains or go to the beach, and see others cities.
We had an amazing time and as soon as we go back to Albania, Tradita is the place we'll go!

We had a family rooms in the annex for 2 nights in early August. Room had queen size bed in lower levlel and three single beds in loft. Traditional decor throughout. Ate dinner at restaurant both nights. Excellent food and good service. Breakfast was excellent- fresh figs, tomatoes, melons, bread, cheese, fresh juice, fresh jam and coffee. Nice location about 5-10 min walk from city center.
