My wife and I and my sister and brother-in-law took the Viator Mt. Fuji/Bullet Train excursion out of Tokyo. It was the worst tour we have ever taken. It began with our requests for front seats which we booked at least 9 months in advance. When we arrived we asked about our previous request for front seats due to motion sickness and were told they were taken. When we boarded, they were empty and everyone scrambled for the vacant seats. We accepted the outcome. When we arrived at Mt. Fuji, the weather precluded a clear view of the mountain. However, on our departure after a very short visit at a local shop, the weather broke and we requested a quick bus stop so that we could at least take a picture. The tour guide declined our request as the bus raced to the next 3 stops. Everyone would have gladly cut short any of the next three tour stops including some sulphur pits, to have at least had one opportunity to see Mt. Fuji even from the side of the road where several scenic pull-offs with parking were available. To put it short, they were in a hurry to get us back to the train station ahead of time without any explanation. When we arrived at the train station for the bullet train, we were "dropped off" without our tour guide accompanying us back to Tokyo as originally planned because she had to fill in for another guide who was not there and left us stranded at the train station. Once we got into the Tokyo station, we had to fumble our way through massive crowds, trying to find our way to the next train and back to our hotel. The guide had left 20 of us to attend to 2 other people who were going elsewhere. While we made the best of it, Viator did not live up to their original commitment and were inflexible just to accommodate two people and their failure to provide adequate personnel for the excursions they had lumped together under one guide. We did not get a glimpse of Mt. Fuji, not because of the weather, but because they were hell-bent on getting us back early to accommodate two people. Note the title of the trip was an all day Mt. Fuji/Bullet Train tour. We will never book again with Viator and recommend that others consider the same. The trip itinerary as it turned out, was terrible, not that there weren't any good moments. But the primary purpose of our trip to at least have a chance to see Mt. Fuji, was bypassed for Viator's own personal purposes and lack of adequate staff. The trip turned out to be very, very boring. Knowing what we learned after the fact, there has to be some other alternate avenue for anyone interested in seeing Mt. Fuji!
