I ate at Bistro San Martin before I became a fat-free vegan, so I may have to revise my comments in the future. We were delighted to find a very classy restaurant in downtown Arlington, and everything from the decor and the service to the taste met, and exceeded, our expectations. When we left Bistro San Martin, it would've been very easy to give this place an enthusiastic 5 stars!
But that night I had the worst case of heartburn I've ever had; to the point where I thought I was having a heart-attack. I think I may have simply overdone it, between my choices of champagne with dinner and brandy after the meal, along with the delicious salad dressing and rich roasted duck main course and decadent dessert. All those rich foods and drinks did me in.
Now that I've changed my diet, and I see that Bistro San Martin offers vegetarian entrees upon request, I'd like to go back and see if I can get something vegan and oil-free. I would gladly give them anther chance, since our experience otherwise was so good.
Give it a try, but take it easy, would be my suggestion.
