We arrived during the afternoon to find the entire house open, loud music playing from the basement, a really strong smell of cooking and a young lady eating breakfast cereal on the couch. The entrance hall was extremely shabby, the floor was filthy dirty as was the stair carpet up to the bedrooms.
However, our room was spotlessly clean, but we did not get a good first impression.
We were then told that breakfast was at 0830 and when we said we needed to leave before then, we were told that 0830 is when the owner does breakfast. We left our bags and went into town. When we returned, the house was still wide open and there was no one in sight. Later on, I did manage to find 2 young ladies in the kitchen. That evening we managed to find the owner and offered to pay him as we would be leaving early the next morning. He said he couldn't take the payment but would be up cooking at 5am. We went to leave at 0630 and apart from another guest, the house was completely deserted and the front door wide open. We called and went into the basement, but it was empty. We went into town and had breakfast and returned at 0700. Again, the door was open and the place empty, so we left.
I think the owners need to decide if they are running a hotel or a catering business, seriously review their security arrangements and find another cleaning company.
I would not recommend this hotel
