we just left this wonderful hotel and really loved it. The location was SO quiet even though it might seem otherwise when you first drive up. The owners were so nice and everyone we came in contact with were very helpful. Great restaurants nearby. The person at the desk when we checked in was so friendly and didn't miss a beat when I asked to look at the room before we checked it. We had a nice fireplace which came in handy because it was cold there.
Please don't hesitate to stay at this hotel if you want a great and peaceful experience. We have traveled all over the world and can't say enough good about this hotel. I'm picky, picky picky about where we stay.

TERRIBLE PEOPLE. Made reservation in 01/08 for our lodging May 21-25, 2008. Stay started out OK, fairly clean rooms, nicely decorated. Continental breakfast was nothing and only had coffee one day.
We were attending a seminar in Anacortes and I was informed on the 23rd that even though we had a reservation through the 25th the person at the front desk told me he booked someone else in our room and we neede to leave. I informed him we are not leaving we are staying. I went to the office 3 times and no one would come to the front desk. We were in a seminar the morning of the 24th when I received a call from the manager of Anaco yelling at me and telling me we needed to be out of our room by 11:00 or he would throw our clothes out. I told him we paid for the room and if he touched our clothes I would contact the police on him.
Very upset my wife left the seminar and loaded up our car. We paid for this room well in advance and didn't have a room on the last day of our stay.
The manager and I believe his wife, mid eastern, were very rude and unfriendly. I will now dispute my charges along with filing formal complaint with AAA. I heard of other folks that had reservations, but the manager sold their rooms to other people.

This person had reserved the room on January 1, 2008 for the 21- 25 of May. On the 22 of May he told jag that he would be checking out one night early. I even remember telling Jag, the owner, that is ok we will have no problem selling that room, which we did not. On the 23, he called us and said that he was going to stay on Saturday. Well Jag told him sorry we had already sold the room since you told us you were checking out one day early. He quickly changed his tone and yelled at Jag saying that he said "might" leave one day early he then rudely hung up abruptly not letting Jag respond. I was personally there for both of these conversations and heard every word. However, I did not hear the conversation on Saturday the 23, since it was my day off, but I do know that Jag never yells at anybody even when. That person knew the checkout time was at 11 am. This was not our mistake. Finally, there is always someone here at the office from 7am-11pm and for afterhours I'm the onsite Manager and I am here almost 24/7. We did not have any trouble, like he claims, with other people at the trawler fest because they stayed the full time they made the reservation and did not try to cancel any day.

We stayed at this hotel in February and returned again in March. This time we stayed in room 206, a wonderful suite with a bay window, high ceilings, gas fireplace, and two separate bed rooms, one with a queen, one with a king. We had an even nicer stay this time. The living/kitchen area is light, bright and overlooks the water, the refinery (very pretty at night) and has views of Mount Baker when it is clear. The staff and owners are very nice and helpful. The beds are great, and it is kept very clean. We had need to book a standard room for some additional family members. It was just fine, functional and the beds were great.
During our last stay in February, we had trouble connecting to the internet. The owners recently installed a new internet system, and we had great connectivity this time.
I would highly recommend. The hotel is homey, convenient, clean and well located.

    • Liked — The location, friendly staff, ability to cook meals.
    • Disliked — The hotel is a great "home base", but there are no activities associated with it-like pool, game room, etc But there is so much to do in Anacortes, it is nice to have a relaxing place to come back to after all the other local activities.

We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and booked at the Anaco Inn. Told the women on the phone we were impressed with all the good reviews. When we pulled up were puzzeled, because it's on a dingy side street across from a lumber yard. I made the mistake of signing the credit card slip before looking at the room, because of the reviews. The room was depressing, the beds sagged, everything was dingy and depressing about it, including the small view of some shed out back. It was then we realized there was a Anaco BAY Inn as well. I believe all the good reviews here are for that hotel, although we didn't stay there. We told the manager that this wasn't going to work for us and would he be kind enough to credit the money back. "You already signed it" he snarled. We tried to reason with him saying we needed some good rest and only had the weekend. He said he would fix the fireplace that wasn't working. We told him that wasn't the only problem but he wouldn't budge. We left and stayed at another hotel, Island Inn where we had a fireplace and view balcony, nice breakfast and people. So final note DO NOT MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AT THE ANACO INN. ANACO BAY INN MAY BE FINE BUT I CAN'T VOUCH FOR THEM. ONE LITTLE WORD IN THE NAME COULD MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.

We remember these people very well because 99% of the people that visit here are satisfied with our service. We try hard but there are people like this. They stayed in the room for 30 minutes and used our facilities and broke our thermostat which controls the fireplace. Then they started complaining that this was not a smoking room and that we did not allow them to smoke in there. Those are the only two things that they told the front desk attendant. I told them personally that this is a non-smoking facility when they made the reservation. I also told them that this room does not have a view. Our villa units are the only view rooms. We have nice firm beds and a jetted tub in the room. These are very nice large rooms and we have people staying weeks in them. They even tried to threaten the front desk person that they were going to put a bad review on this site I am sorry that they did not enjoy their stay but we are not going to let people take advantage of us. We have one of the nicest hotels in Anacortes and we pride ourselves upon that. Our entire staff has earned every good review that has been put on this site as well as others. A lot of our guests are return visitors and many others say they will definitely stay with us next time they visit Anacortes and recomend this to others.

Not only is this a verry nice hotel but it has a great location. It is two blocks away from the grocery store and a very short drive to the ferry terminal. Right across the street their is a trail that follows the water. I went with my wife and she loved it. Room 206 was not available so they gave me room 205 and it had just as good of a view as 206. The Front Desk help was great. They listed off some great seafood places. The continental breakfast was nice touch. I will definitely stay there again in the future.
