“Great place for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I have stayed several times at the Islands inn and will gladly stay there again. The motel is very clean, even the pool area seemed clean. The breakfast is much better than average. The selection is similar to other motels (breads, cereal, yogurt, eggs, etc.) but the quality is much better. They have home made granola which is very good as well as muffins. The whole wheat bread was very good with honey cream cheese spread, the cereals were very good, and the hard boiled eggs seemed freshly cooked. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For the price this motel is a good choice. The only negative is that it is an older motel so some of the fixtures show wear/damage (window cranks broken, a few cracks, etc.) The owners have clearly made an effort to maintain the building and I appreciated some of the unique features such as the second murphy beds in some rooms (as a second bed).

Room Tip: Second floor rooms are the best since we could hear some noise from above when we stayed in a first...

My friend and I decided to take a couple of days away from the bustle of big city life in August. After reading the reviews for Islands Inn we booked it. The rate was $79 for a room with 2 double beds, breakfast included. We were very pleasantly greeted and helped with maps of the many beautiful parks and lakes in the area. Our room was old fashioned, but very clean, with a fridge and ample sparkling white towels. In the lobby was coffee and tea to help ourselves. We were also given real wine glasses so that we could enjoy the delicious local wine we had bought.
Breakfast the next morning was pure delight....soft boiled eggs perfectly cooked served with a loaf of delicious home made bread. Bagels, cinnamon toast, home baked muffins, cereals, juice and coffee rounded out a delightful start to our day.
Kudos to the owner and staff of this wonderful establishment.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end are quieter.

Islands Inn is a delightful surprise and the perfect place to spend the night if planning to take the morning ferry to Sidney, B.C. It is very convenient and a most comfortable cheery place to stay, some rooms having a view toward the bay. It is a really good value having many amenities a 4****motel would have, is very clean and welcoming. The big plus for us is that they accept dogs which was a challenge in Anacortes and we very much appreciated that. The staff are most friendly and I don't think you could do better than the Islands Inn.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view toward the water in the building the farthest back from the office.

Overall a good place to stay. The room we stayed in wasn't quite as nice as the pictures suggest and there were a few weird things (not show stoppers - such as a mini-fridge next to the toilet in the bathroom). Overall we had a comfortable bed and the staff was great! Dog friendly too!

Room Tip: Rooms near the lobby get the best wi-fi as the router is in the main lobby. It seems the rooms furt...

We keep a boat in Anacortes so visit often before casting off. One or both of us has stayed at Islands Inn probably 10 times. This is not really an inn - it's an older2-story motel owned and managed by Dutch-born interests, fixed up with hospitable touches such as well-tended landscape plantings, flowers in pots, an afternoon wine bar with small Euro-dishes as appetizers, cozy lobby with Internet access for guests (DSL Internet,in rooms), ginger cookies at check-in, a small swimming pool off lobby, .Located on the main Commercial Street as one enters town. The "Family Suites" are particularly good value - bedroom and living room with fridge - $79 for 2 in June 2012. The facilities are clean, if sometimes worn - but the Dutch are definitely clean. The shower tiles are well-scrubbed. This is not luxury but it is comfort. The staff is friendly and helpful. A special feature is the Continental breakfast included in price - the Inn goes out of its way to make a nice breakfast for guests - soft-boiled eggs in crocheted "rooster" cozies, coffee, tea, cereals, milk, juice, an assortment of breads with jam and butter - 7 am to 9 am. the management offers to prepare meals for delivery to one's room - have never tried this. A number of guests may be workers on local projects who stay for a few weeks. Parking is right in front of the rooms, handy for those traveling with pets. There's nothing particularly scenic about the location, but for dog walkers, the motel abuts a residential neighborhood that allows as long a walking circuit as one wants. Anacortes has a very long walking/biking trail to the east near the water that can give you and pooch as much exercise as you want and some romps along the water in open fields by the boat docks. (There's also an off-leash dog park near Cap Sante Marina).

Room Tip: ask for the family suites if you want a sitting room plus bedroom.

It's clean and it's close to Deception Pass State Park. The owner is very friendly and if you have a reasonable dog you can bring it. My husband and I like the Petite Wine Bar and the two glasses of wine and salmon pate upon arrival. (Comes with a deal). We stayed in Room 212 which was quite large and did I mention clean. The bathroom has a window! Yaay.
