“Not fancy but a good place to stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2004

Room was a good size (bigger than standard) and in a convenient location. Property was clean. Breakfast daily. Nothing fancy or spectacular, but certainly fine if you are not looking for a fancy hotel.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2004

We stayed one night in June 2004. It was located a little further from town than I thought it would be, so you have to drive everwhere.
The owner seemed nice, though not very outgoing.
The Inn itself appeared clean, but a few things in the room needed an update; like the blankets (old & nubby), the mattress was a little soft, and the walls could use a repainting. Our bathroom had nice fluffy towels, but we were not too thrilled with a tub/shower that did not drain very well, and low water pressure.
Not much, if any decor in the rooms. The room we had was large that comfortably fit 2 Queen beds, a kitchenette, a table, and a TV cabinet. Our view was of the parking lot.
We did not partake in the complementary breakfast, since we wanted more than cereal & bagels. We ate at a great little place called Calico Cupboard, nice breakfast, great baked goods.
Overall, we were glad that we only had to spend the one night there, esspecially since there was not much to do around town in Anancortes (the shops close at 5 pm) and no attractive dinner restaurants to choose from. We went to Safeway instead.

Reminded us of an English country Inn. Large rooms with comfortable beds & kitchens. Staff treated us like family. Fabulous view of Mt Baker from the great Hot Tub room. We'll happily return.

Though AAA-rated, this motel isn't too great. The 'bay view' in our room was out a small back window overlooking a parking lot where, if you really craned your neck to one side, you could see the bay. The 'continental breakfast' consisted of boxes of cold cereal, and by 8:00 a.m. they were out of the cereal bowls to use for eating it! They also had awful bagels (gooey, plain), but again, by 8:00 a.m. there was only one left. Breakfast is served in an austere, cramped room. There is also a policy about only one small plastic bucket of ice, and the manager crept up behind me when I took two! Felt sort of like the Bates Motel. But we had booked a room on our way up to the San Juans and Canada and again on the way back, so I decided to honor the second reservation. After 10 hours of travel on a long day, we arrived at 9:15 p.m. off the ferry to find that, despite our longterm confirmed reservation, they had given our room away. Just an unpleasant experience coming and going!
