Big room, good size bathroom. Pool was ok, but crowded. Steps leading into pool were very slippery, and I slipped getting in, but did not get hurt. This could have been a problem had I not caught myself on the handrail. Hotel should put some anti-slip strips on these steps and in the hot tub as well. A little noisy, we could here the people upstairs running, jumping, etc. When a toilet would flush, the pipes must run through the wall right next to the head board on our bed. Thankfully we were not awakened in middle of the night by this, but heard it distinctively before 11 PM and as we were getting up in AM.

Rooms were extremely clean. Towels were plush and fresh. Beds were a little too soft to my liking, but still nice. Staff was helpful and had smiles on their faces. Believe it or not the grits tasted good! The morning breakfast consists of frozen items put in the microwave.(Ex. pancakes, cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage). There is always cold cereal, yogurt, donuts, and juice.

If you go to Kingsdominion, bring a picnic lunch. I paid more for food than the tickets themselves. Parking was $10. A pizza pie cost $26. Lemonde or soda $4. Water $3.50. Ice cream was expensive too and didn't taste good.

Again the hotel was great and I will stop there on my way from Pennsylvania to Myrtle Beach again.

Quick overnight stay in late June 2008.

Disappointed that only room available when we arrived was a handicapped accessible room which we did not want or need, but which made the living space smaller and the bathroom larger. Great for those who need it, but bummer for us.

Usual HI-Express breakfast. Lots to choose from - what was most fun was watching all the different people in the dining area -loved all the southern accents - don't hear much of that in Los Angeles. :)

We spent 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Ashland, Va.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was clean and comfortable.
We even had a choice of soft or firm pillows.
The pool was small but adequate.
The hot tub was wonderful to soak tired backs and legs and feet at the end of the day.
The breakfast bar included their signature cinnamon rolls, cereal, bagels, donuts, fruit, yogurt, sausage, hard boiled eggs, juice, milk and coffee.
Would stay there again.
