I am not the type to write reviews but felt compelled to put in a good word at the least for the management and housecleaning of this establishment. My family stayed here in late June as a stopover for the Outer Banks, squeezing in a trip to Kings Dominion. My first impression of the property was not great. It seemed run down and there were people loitering outside their rooms. I thought that "you get what you pay for". We did not want to pay too much for a one night sleepover, so after reading the reviews of the hotel, it seemed like a hit or miss. The exterior carpeting was in dire need of replacement, and the rooms were clean but they could also use some refurnishment. But as I said we were only here for one night. Beds were somewhat comfortable and shower area was adequate. There could be more choices at breakfast but again it was adequate. There seemed to be a lot of customers because the parking lot was quite full. After an uneventful night, we prepared to leave early in the morning and my wife left her modestly expensive watch on the nightstand. The next day she finally noticed and we thought that it was gone, but much to our surprise upon calling the hotel, the management said they had found the watch and would mail it back to us. So that is part of the reason I am writing this review. I would not outright recommend this hotel but for the value and honesty of the housecleaning staff and management, I would. Yes, they could put some money into sprucing this place up, but if you are just looking for a inexpensive place to stay for a night or two, this is not the worst choice.
