I spent a night at this HI on the way to SC from NJ. It was a pleasurable stay in every way. The staff were great, making check-in quick and easy. The lobby was well laid out, with a comfortable spacious, yet homey, feel.
One thing that really impressed me immediately were the smiles. Staff were happy and smiling, guests were happy and smiling, and I couldn't help but be happy and smiling. (I certainly didn't want to be odd man out!)
Got to the room and was thrilled to see a kitchenette type full-sized counter w/ microwave and mini-fridge. Plenty of shelf space. A long stay in this hotel would have been a real pleasure.
Big bed, easy chair and ottoman w/ standing lamp, desk, desk lamp and chair. Armoire for clothes and big TV (80+ channels, no pay-per-view). Again, plenty of shelves.
Excellent wired high speed internet.
Tha bathroom was spacious. It had a jacuzzi tub, which was a trick to get into and out of because of its size, but the space was nice. Your usual HI "Purity" amenities. I don't particularly care for them, but they work.
Everything was clean and fresh, though the room was slightly dusty. But it was not enough to bother me.
Breakfast was egg-cellent. Lots of hot and cold choices. Plenty of different coffees, juices, and teas. Great variety.
I highly recommend the Hampton Inn Richmond/Ashland, and look forward to my next stay.
