Nagoya was a great add to the Ashburn dining options when it opened 10+ years ago, and the fact that it is still open and busy (when so many other local restaurants have come and gone) is a welcome result of their focus on consistantly good food and good service. The atomosphere is neighborhood family-oriented, with occasional invitations to join in a quick, good-natured course of birthday song for one of the other diners. The updated layout in fall 2012 was welcome, improving the waiting area...
We've eaten in Japanese tepannyaki steak houses in many places across North America, and can honestly say that this beats most (if not all) of those we've seen. Filet, shrimp and chicken dishes are favorites, and their tempura is always a great treat (although it doesn't do quite as well as a take-out.) Sushi has alway been fresh and well presented, on those occasions when something a bit lighter is appropriate...
