We were doing a road trip of the East Coast and had stayed in a few Days Inn and although basic were all clean, and in good condition. I should have been warned by the reviews but wanted to be in Arlington and the hotel rate was good. Let me say now if we had not expected to be out all day and had more time (we were booked for two nights) we would have checked out right then and there. i have never been to any hotel ever that has been so dirty the edges of the sticky and filtly carpet was thick with fluff and bits that had never been hoovered. The mattress was stained and sheets clean but had marks on them. The electrics looked dangerous with wires running along the wall and the tiny bathroom grubby again with dodgy switches etc.
Our room was above the thai restaurant and looked out on to a petrol station. The hallway was awful leading to our room most of the doors looked as if they had been knocked about. We did feel a little un easy at night and there were people hanging about the stairs but maybe they were guests. We used the chain at night but this looked as if it had been pushed against.
The free breakfast was in a tiny room and as mentioned just sticky donuts on foil trays with juice and coffee in empty flasks. There was no room at the couple of table provided so took an apple with us for the day as we did not want to eat in our room.
It is a long way out of Washington but we did take a bus and felt quite safe doing so. I am surprised this is part of Days Inn although a basic hotel group has been up to then clean and comfortable. They should gut the place.

  • Liked — Nothing at all
  • Disliked — too many to mention, but mainly dangerous looking electrics and very poor cleanliness

Overall I was really happy with my stay in the Days Inn Arlington.

The room looked nice and clean to me, the bed was extremely comfy. The walls were a little thin but nothing you can do about that. The only bad part is that the hotel is sortof far away from the action. So you might want to invest in something closer.

The one really great thing about this hotel was that it was located to many resturants and in a very secure area. I felt very safe there and loved the fact that so many food places were so close by.

If you don't mind taking public transportation from one place to another (like I do) then this is a good place to stay for the price. You can take any number 16 bus to the hotel and back to the Metro train station. Be sure to get a map of the Metro before travelling.

I loved riding the Metro system in DC I feel its the best way to get around!!! The trains are fast, the stations are clean and it'll take you to anyplace you want to go!!

I do agree with the posters on Trip Advisor that the breakfast they served wasn't the best I've ever had. It consisted of Donuts (small ones) cereal, etc. But it was good food and enough to fill me for the day.

Overall I was happy with my stay in the Days Inn. I will look around to see if I can find something else closer to the action. If I cannot for the price I paid to stay- I would def. stay in the Days Inn again!!

  • Liked — close to many resturants and to the bus which takes you to metro
  • Disliked — just seemed far away from DC

Bed was HORRIBLE -- box springs bowed out on sides; mattress had NO padding, actually was sleeping (trying to) on material covered springs. Our backs hurt for two days following!

Upholstery of sofa and table chair were VERY dirty.

Power cord for TV ran across floor (by wall), across the door to the adjoining room to plug into a wall outlet.

Continental breakfast --- typical cold, dry foods! Milk was in 2 pitchers - uncovered, NOT ON ICE. We got there toward the end of the breakfast hours and the milk was nowhere near cold -- seemed as though it had been left out for the entire 3-hour time period. Dairy products must be kept cold.

Hotel desk clerk would not give me a print--out of my room. Said that since we had paid via internet, she could not give me a receipt. I insisted that I needed something to prove I had been there, and then she gave me a form stating that they could not give me a receipt, but did list my name, room number, and date of stay.

I would rate this as a ONE on a scale of 1-5. I would definitely not advise staying here! It certainly was not an $85 room. I have stayed at Hampton Inns for less and the quality was WAY BETTER. Price is NOT necessarily the deciding factor.

This property is not worthy of Hotels.com endorsement! They promise to check it out. Probably will not be listed unless major changes are made.

This hotel is gross!!!!!!! It was an awful experiance. When we got there it was about 11 pm and there were sketchy biker guys hanging around out side. It is right by the highway and not safe at all. There was no one at the desk to help us. We had to climb in the window to get to our room. The room connected to the employee's only lounge and there was no lock!!! There was blood on our matress and insects and dirt everywhere. The AC didn't work and niether did the hot water. The hot water only works if you turn on the heat, so if you want to do that on a summmer night go right ahead. The sheets were dirty and gross.

It looks like it was built in 1920 and hasnt been updated since. They will charge you extra if you use the soap or miniscule crappy bottle of shampoo. They only give you two towels, which are about the size of a dish cloth. In the morning the maid came in at 7am without knocking to clean our room. When they clean the room they don't chage the sheets. The breakfast had no milk or water, and the fruit they gave us was frozen. Only stay at this crap motel if you are physically forced!!!! If it is a last resort stay outside instead!!!!!!!

  • Liked — Nothing everything was disgusting!!!!!!!!! but they did have internet, that was the only good thing.
  • Disliked — the bloody matress, the insects, the service, the location, everything!!!!!!

This hotel was close to the 16-line buses (A, B, D, F...), which drop you off at the Pentagon City metro stop. Not a long bus ride, easy access. Stops right in front of a gas station, which is situated
right next to the Days Inn. Staff was kind and helpful the entire visit, and our room was spotless. Despite the fact that this hotel was in a busy area, we hardly heard any noise, besides the occassional person walking down the hallway or climbing the stairs in front of our room. My husband brought his laptop to do some work, but found that internet access was extremely slow. We did find that the secondary lock on the door had very loose screws (as if someone, maybe hotel security, has tried to enter the room in this manner). That was a little unsettling, but we still didn't feel unsafe. It was
a busy hotel, and continental breakfast was very basic (seemed like generic, store-bought donuts and bagels). Overall, this hotel worked for us well for the one night we stayed, and we will probably return sometime in the future.
