“Surprisingly nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2010

I was very surprised by how nice the hotel is. It is quite unassuming from the street but opens up inside to a modern, clean, friendly hotel. Our room was decorated with beautiful modern photos from around dc, crisp white linens and very comfy bed, Starbucks coffee in room and nice toiletry items from BLISS, and a huge flat screen. We had a corner room so I think ours was extra spacious. We never had to wait long for the shuttle to the Metro, and when we took a cab from DC back late at night it was always about $12-$15.
Side note, cab drivers seemed to have a little difficulty finding the hotel, so it helps if you remember the address and help them see where to turn, as its a little hidden.

Read a lot of negative reviews on trip advisor regarding the Sheraton National.Well, there really isn't anything within walking distance to the hotel but that shouldn't concern you.The hotel shuttle leaves every 30min to the Pentagon City Mall/Metro Station. It runs until after 11 PM.We never had any reason to go any farther than the lobby there. It's about a 12 minute metro ride to DC.The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was very nice and the bedding was great.I do wish there was a refrigerator in the room.We did find a nice area behind the Pentagon City Mall called Pentagon Row where there are great pubs, shops and restaurants. And if you want to buy wine in that area is Ralph Twitter's Supermarket that sells great prepared foods, salads, beer and a great selection of wine. The only complaint I had was that I requested a room with a view and because we arrived before check in time, they offered us another room but we declined so we would have a view of the monumentsThey gave our room away! The moral of this story is make sure they check you in on arrival and know your room # and get the key.

We stayed at this hotel during Cherry Blossom Festival. We were only there 2 nights. It was completely sold out. I was worried, as doubles were overbooked, but we were quickly taken care of. Received very good advice from hotel staff on the area. Customer service was fantastic. Some people have complained about having to pay for internet, $20 for parking, etc. But these are things you need to know going in. I got the room for $63/night, so having to pay $20 for parking, still made it affordable. Not a lot within walking distance, but if you have your own vehicle, you can get to plenty. As for going into DC, we had nothing but good things to say about the shuttle service and the metro. The biggest thing, is people have to know what they are getting into when they book a hotel room. If they were, I don't know how you couldn't have been imressed with this hotel. Doubtful I will return to DC area, but if I do, this is the first place I would look to.

The service at this Sheraton was impeccable - hotel employees made us feel welcome and important. They were willing to do anything to help and make our stay more pleasant. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We slept well and enjoyed the large window with a view of DC. We absolutely loved the free shuttle service to and from the metro station (which is also near a very large shopping mall). I only have a few small complaints. There is some noise from other rooms and the hallway, not the worst I've heard, but not ideal either. The shower was missing a mat or any type of grip on the bottom and was very slippery. Lastly, the room had no refrigerator or microwave - this was inconvenient. Overall though, our stay was very pleasant and I would definitely return.

I booked this hotel through hotwire and got a great deal - $70 per night, including tax, plus an additional $20 a night for parking. The hotel is located near the Pentagon, but you'll have to take the frequent shuttles (about every half hour) to the Pentagon City Metro station. They increased shuttle service during peak hours and offered bottled water when we returned from sightseeing one evening. The room was nicely furnished. Only complaint was that the shower drain was a little slow. The kids and I enjoyed the rooftop pool. We had unusually hot temperatures during spring break and it was nice to bask in the sun on the rooftop porch adjacent to the pool. Very satisfied with my stay.

I used this hotel for a stopover between flights from Washington Reagan airport. I got a fantastic rate via hotwire. Hotel is usual comfortable and clean Sheraton standard, with free transfer to and from airport/metro and free wifi in the cafe area of the lobby. The only problem was that the first room I was given was not made up, but reception gave me another room instead.

We needed a good priced hotel for our 8 day stay, and were pleased to secure this three and a half star hotel for $80/night on Priceline. However, the hotel is NOT suited for tourists, and we came to regret our booking by the time our vacation ended. There is nothing within walking distance. No restaurants, shops, sights. To get anywhere, you need to take the shuttle, which is supposed to run every 30 min. to the nearby Pentagon City mall and metrorail stop, 5 minutes away across several major highways and overpasses. But the shuttles were erratic, and we more than once had to wait up to an hour for the shuttle to pick us up at the mall. (Taxis are out of the question at $15 a trip.) Parking at $20/night is outrageous. The rooms are clean and the staff are efficient, but as the hotel is not centrally located, and due to the poor shuttle service we really can't recommend it for tourists.
