“Musty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

I stayed here on 10/3/12 to 10/6/12. I got a room on the 2100 level which is in the basement of all places. It smelled musty. I asked three times for a different room out of the basement but to no avail. This to me was unacceptable. I can understand the construction and noise in the driveway or even the pool being up for repairs. (both annoying but acceptable as improvements) however the smell room was horrible. I wish I had febreze.

Room Tip: Stay out of the the basement. Ask in advance where the room is.

I stayed at the Sheraton for a business conference on Wednesday 10/3/12 through 10/5/12.
This hotel was fine, although, they are doing some renovations to the hotel, which has the indoor pool closed and the health club has been moved to the 15th floor. The place is clean, the staff is great and the rooms were nice and clean. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant 2 nights and the food was good, but expensive, being this is a hotel.
If you stay here, there is nothiong close by, but the hotel does have a shuttle that takes you to various shopping areas. Parking is $22 a day, but since the hotel was undergoing renovations they were not charging for parking. Wifi in your rooom is not free, but the lobby WIFi is free.
Arlington National cemetary is within walking distance and you can see the Penatagon from the hotel. I'm not sure if that is within walking distance. I like the Sheraton and would stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want a good view, get a high floor. The highest floors will let you see Washinton an the monu...

Just to be upfront, I stayed at this hotel using a LivingSocial voucher that was $99 for the room, 2 $5 metro tickets, free parking for the night and 2 free breakfasts and a one night stay.

The front desk staff were nice and polite and patient with me despite several issues that popped up out of the blue. Check in was smooth, I received my room, which was nicely furnished, clean, and very modern and up to date. They are apparently renovating the place so just FYI there is no pool and there was something else that wasn't available but I don't remember what it was. They also apparently take pets, which is a plus for some people. Breakfast was a buffet or a menu affair, and had the usual assortment of catered type breakfast food.

However this place can, and will nickel and dime you if you let them. They charge *per device* to use the wireless. I had assumed it was a flat fee to use it on any device, and their login page didn't say otherwise, so I had to have them remove the double charge. They were not clear on the directions on how to deal with parking, so I ended up having to charge my credit card to get out of the parking garage and then go get it refunded to me. Upon arriving at the Metro, and trying to use the Metro tickets I was given, they didn't work. According to the station attendant I would have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it ironed out so I ate the cost of a day pass and let those two tickets go to waste; they should have worked.

The other thing is, this hotel is in an awful location. There is really nothing around it of note, and if you don't drive out to a metro station with parking you can take their shuttle. The neighborhood around the hotel didn't seem the best either.

All in all if you're looking for something nicely situated for DC there are much better hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room, the lower rooms are right on ground level and felt a little bit unsafe. Watch o...

This is a lovely hotel, the room was gorgeous and the breakfast was just fantastic - so much choice and of the highest standard. We used the complimentary bus service to the metro (which then took you into Washington DC) and could not fault this.

Hotel is well below standards one expects from a Sheraton hotel. Zero service checking in. Parking is $22.00 per day and for that you self park in an unsecured parking structure. They make sure to post that yup park at your own risk. Dinner in the restaurant was very good. Service and food both very good. The same can't be said for breakfast. The buffet was lousy for the price. Only two toasters and one didn't work. Advised staff member it didn't work. He tried it, said your right and put it back beside the other one. I bet it will sit the broken for along time. Be wary of the room they attempt to put you in. They have what's called an annex. It's across from the main building. You have to pull your luggage up at least 7 stairs to get to the elevator. Rooms have no view and the bathrooms make you feel like your staying in the 1 to 1.5 star chain hotels. When I asked for a room in the main building I was told there were none available. I refused to believe that and asked for the hotel manager. The desk clerk left and returned 5 minutes later to advise they had a room, in fact more than one. I was then given a bed choice and a new room. I chose this hotel because I thought it would be more convenient to visit the cemetery. It was no more convenient than staying in DC across the river. You can take the metro from DC in a matter of minutes to the cemetery entrance and get a far better hotel.

Every good thing came with a "but." Location is close to Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ft. Meyer... but not in a good neighborhood. There is nothing within walking distance (day or night). It's only a short taxi ride to Clarendon and Rosslyn where there is abundant nightlife and great restaurants. Hotel offers free shuttle every 30 min to nearest Metro station, so you will need to plan your time accordingly. The van is sometimes full and you may need to wait for the next shuttle or take a taxi. The rooms are reasonably clean... but our bathroom had a loose toilet seat. We requested maintenance on day 1 of our 5 day stay... but it was never fixed. Be sure to lock your room while you are in it -- housekeeping entered without knocking or announcing themselves. The restaurant has reasonably good food... but is pricey and service is very slow. The bar serves overpriced watery drinks and the bartenders are surly if you interrupt their tv-watching. We were not offered help with our luggage on either arrival or departure. No valet parking service, though garage is only a short walk. The room view is great if you are lucky enough to score a room facing DC. The room itself is nice... but the only chair was covered in faux-leather vinyl and creaked noisily with every movement. The bed was comfortable... but the pillows were the worst we've ever experienced. Fake feathers? Not sure, but they offered absolutely no support. Watch your bill for extra fees -- $11.95 for wifi, parking is $10 to $25/day. I heard guests complaining about being double charged for their restaurant bill -- they paid their bill and it was also charged to their room. The front staff was courteous... but aloof. Only one of them seemed to care that we chose to stay there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing DC on highest floor available

This nice hotel is ideally located and overlooks the Pentagon and Potomac River and DC Quick shuttle service to National airport and Pentagon City Metro where there is great shopping and dining. The hotel itself is well appointed if slightly dated. The bar is friendly and has good light fare including a cob salad. Downsides include the lack of a daily paper at the door, a one cup coffee maker, and charges for internet access. Why do the more expensive hotels also nickle dime their customers with fees like this? Good value via Priceline bidding

Room Tip: Even numbers look toward the River and DC
