“Excellently located and well priced close to downtown DC and Reagan Natl”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2011

I am a Starwood Platinum member and chose Sheraton Crystal City for its location, and the fact that it had an executive lounge. Unfortunately I discovered on arrival that the hotel has no suites at all (apart from one attached to its conference facilities), and that the Executive lounge is pretty much unused during the weekends - a phenomena quite specific to Sheraton hotels in the USA, and not the rest of the world.
As I was SPG Platinum my wifi was free - although in Feb 2011 they appeared to be running a promotion where all guests received free wifi.
The hotel is one of the smaller hotels in the Crystal City area - right next door to the Radisson Blu, Hampton Inn, and very large Marriott Crystal City and Crystal Gateway. It appears to primarily cater to small conferences more than recreational travellers. It is also directly across the road from the Crystal City Metro underground station, and the two rambling underground Crystal City shopping complexes. There are plenty of good restaurants close by, and within walking distance, particularly a couple of streets over on the 12th street side of the Crystal City shops.
The public areas of the hotel are rather small, and a lot smaller than what they appear on the website photos. The breakfast buffet is pretty basic, with their a-la-carte menu not being much more extensive. Rooms are comfortable, although a little dated and dark. No particular problems though. The location just across the road from the Crystal City Metro station is excellent. Downtown DC, the Mall, monuments and Smithsonian are literally only two or three stops away and very very accessible, at much lower hotel room prices than the downtown hotels. They also offer a free shuttle to Reagan National Airport which is only 5 minutes away.
I was satisfied with my stay, and stayed here because I was an SPG member and this was the best priced of the Sheraton hotels in DC that was still conveniently located, although if I had not been an SPG member I probably would have opted for the next door Hampton Inn (which I have also stayed at previously and found good quality), or at either of the Marriott hotels, which were much larger and offered many more amenities and public spaces.

The metro is just one block away and a quick ride to all the D.C. sights. The hotel is very nice, with large, very clean spacious rooms. It's also within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and a very nice mall. We would definately stay here again!

I stayed at the Sheraton Crystal City this past weekend (Fri night - Sun night). I booked through priceline and got an amazing bargain ($45/night). The hotel is right across the street from a metro stop. Customer service was impeccable. Clean comfy rooms, with free wi-fi, free starbucks coffee and muffins till 9:00 AM. Very pleased with our visit.

Tip: On nights and weekends the street parking is free. We parked there the whole time and only had to pay a few dollars for the daytime hours we were there.

2nd Tip: We did restaurant.com (sp?) coupon for the Cheasapeake Lounge & Grill ($50 off of $100(. It is at the top of the Hyatt (4 blocks away). Great view of the city and a swanky place to eat.

Over the years, I have stayed at this hotel several times....all stays were o.k....except when the place was full of kids, but one risks that happening at any of the Crystal City hotels. This visit....I repeat...WOW...management should receive a BRAVO for staff training. I was completely blown away by the professional, helpful, friendly, smiling staff from front desk, to phone calls inquiring if all was well, and phone call thanking me for staying at this hotel.....to the doorman (great attitude) and the superior treatment from shuttle driver. Also.,,,,let's mention the very comfortable room.....both room and bath clean, clean, clean! Free Wi-fi during January (let's hope that this is extended.) Free coffee and pastries in the lobby for those not wishing to venture out into the cold (17 degrees yesterday!) I spend a lot of nights in hotels each year.....and this stay ranks right up there at the top of that list......and to all of those staff members with whom I came into contact.....thank you for a great experience!....I'll be back!

After years of average service and cleanliness, they are trying harder. The staff was friendly and engaged! This is quite a difference. The hotel is well located and the metro from the airport was very easy. What was funny is that they claimed that having a king bed was an upgrade for being a Platinum. Yeah - right. None the less, the lounge was nice.

Hotel is very clean. Front desk is very friendly and airport shuttle is prompt. The hotel is so close to the airport and close to the metro and tons of food (ruth chris, cosi). The room is comfortable. Lobby is inviting. Great for a quick stay. Room service prices are very fair. Also december is guest appreciation month- so free internet and coffee.

Over Thanksgiving I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. Room was quiet, breakfast buffet was decent, great location by Metro. Marcus, Super, Dionne (Sp?) were great as well as the breakfast hostess and the front desk ladies. It is showing signs of wear but the cleanliness makes up for that in the room. I liked when I checked in and asked for a quiet room up high in a corner that I got it. As Dionne (Sp?) said " I have the perfect room for you"...it really was. Thanks.
