“Average hotel, good price for DC, convenient to metro.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Shabby rooms, elevator and lobby but clean. Great price for an expensive city and adjacent to metro. Great and very friendly staff. Got an upgrade but still a very average room. Had to wait over a half hour for the hotel airport shuttle. If nicer hotels in the area are too pricey then this is an ok substitute.

My wife and I stayed overnight this past weekend for a quick weekend in D.C. The hotel was perfect. The room was clean and fully stocked with all of the essentials. Crystal City Sheraton is minutes from Georgetown, seconds from Arlington National Cemetary, and a few miles from Mount Vernon. All of which we did in a short stay. Highly recomended.

I have not stayed in Sheratons in recent years due to the coincidence of work travel and had not stayed in this hotel in about 8 years. My expectations were modest, but I had a very nice, although brief business visit to this Sheraton. The hotel staff members were all terrific. They helped out with everything having to do with my room and the meeting room and did it cheerfully. The room was a good size (see attached photo) and comfortable. It had a small refrigerator but no microwave oven. Wifi is free, which cannot be said by many competing hotels. I had lunch in the bar, which served a pretty standard bar menu. Our food catered for our meeting was adequate. (Hot vegetables would have made it more than adequate.) The room was quiet. In the hallway I could hear the yapping dog across the hall, but I could not hear it in my room. The work area is adequate but had only one available electical outlet. In fact, outlets were scarce everywhere, which may be a function of its being on older building. Given the convenience of the Metro, this Sheraton should definitely be a consideration for visits to the DC area.

We were visiting DC for the weekend, and prefer to stay at Metro-area hotels outside of the city to avoid DC's parking and driving hassles. The Sheraton sits less than a block from the Crystal City Metro station, and I booked several nights through a Living Social deal back in the fall that included parking and breakfast.

As my title implies, the building had a few issues. The boiler had problems so the rooms were very warm, and on the 14th floor the windows don't open. We moved to a 12th floor room, and the windows vented nice and wide so problem averted. The fridge didn't work in that second room but I didn't want to go through any more hassle, as we weren't really using it anyway.

That said... the staff here is great. Truly professional, friendly, helpful. And I don't just mean ONE staff. I mean ALL of them. The check-in folks, the attendants at breakfast [which by the way was very good for a hotel breakfast buffet, a definitive step up from the usual Hampton Inn style buffet], the bellman, the guest services operator. Really great customer service training or just very selective hiring process, it's working either way.

Between the great staff, good breakfast buffet and good location, ignore the other issues and go ahead and stay here.

PS - Even though it's right near the airport, I never heard any airplanes. I'm a light sleeper.

Room Tip: 14th floor is the "club room" level, but the windows on this floor don't open for vent...

When we visit DC we like to stay close to a Metro stop so we do not have to drive. This hotel is a short walk across a 4 lane city street to the Crystal City Metro Station. A variety of good restaurants are within walking distance. More restaurants, shopping, and the city are only a few minutes away via Metro. The room was very comfortable, room service good, and the wi-fi worked very well. While there is no complimentary breakfast - coffee is available both in room and in the lobby right outside the elevators. The restaurant offers moderately priced room service and there are a couple excellent bakeries nearby. It worked for us. As with any metro hotel there is an additional fee for parking. They even made arrangements for handling our oversize Sprinter Van. We were able to reach all but one of our destinations without moving our van - and perhaps in another year with the Metro expanded to the Seven Corners area - we will not have to drive at all! We will be back! We dd not use pool or spa.

Not necessarily a bad place to stay, however it did not live up to our expectations. It only had ONE working elevator and even IT was a little scary. Our bathroom was incredibly compact and refrigerator had a maximum occupancy of 3 hot pockets. We did enjoy the free Wi-Fi and the fact that they were pet friendly. Parking was 23.00 per day, so be ready for that. Great location, close to the Metro Station and 5 minute trip to the National Mall. The front desk agents were very nice and accommodating.

We stayed here during our recent trip to DC. The room was very comfortable, and there was free internet. The room was cleaned fairly well everyday. It had a close proximity to DC, a metro stop, and some shopping. The one problem we had was the parking. We were charged an additional $22 per night or so, and the reader frequently was unable to process the hotel key so we would have a hassle when we tried to get in and out. But overall, this place is a good hotel to stay at when you're visiting DC.
