“Outstanding Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

I agree with the other reviewers regarding the rooms (e.g. small, clean, comfortable, but dated) that being said, if you do not intend to spend your entire stay in the room and wish to be centrally located to all the great things in the Washington Metro area - this Ritz is perfection! From check in to check out, the Ritz delivers wonderful service. Special thanks go to Frank (Front Desk) and the lovely women who work on the Club level. The concierge and the staff at Fyve also shined during my visit.

Some of the things that make this Ritz special are:

1. Metro is located directly across from the Ritz entrance so you can zip downtown to check out the museums and monuments with ease.

2. The hotel is connected to the Fashion Center Mall (Macys, Nordstroms etc..) and across the street from a CVS, Starbucks, Marshals and Nordstrom Rack. If you forget to pack ANYTHING you can purchase it within walking distance.

3. Reserving a club level room is worth every penny. There are 5 presentations daily. The breakfast was fantastic with eggs, oatmeal, chicken sausage, bacon, fruit, bagels, smoked salmon and various pasteries. You have access to water, soda and snacks through out the day and a 5pm the club level hosts a lovely happy hour with terrific wine and hot hors'oveures. Just what you need after a long day of sightseeing and a great way to hold you over until the 8:30 dinner reservations!

4. All members of the staff want to help! The concierge arranged for sedan service to take us to Nationals Park and the driver was delightful! He even picked us up so we could avoid the crowds on the way back to VA.

I will definitely go back to this Ritz!

Stayed there for 4 nights with wife and kids for spring break. Rented 2 adjoining suites. Rooms are nice, a little dated. First morning I woke up and went to take a shower, no water. Called the front desk and was told that guests were notified the day before but there was no mention whatsoever about it when I checked in the night before. Also, they were cleaning the brass on elevators during our stay and decided to do it on the floor we were staying on. Fumes were horrible! Why can't they do it on the floor where the gym or conference rooms are after they are closed???? Not very thoughtful. We ordered room service a few times. Food was just okay. The order was wrong a few times and they had to go back to get the rest of it. Also, there is a service charge and 18% gratuity added on to room service but yet there is a space to leave a tip and only once did the server mention that gratuity is added to the bill. If you are putting 18% gratuity on my bill and there is a space to leave a tip when you sign for it I think it's only appropriate that you mention it!
Now for the good stuff. The staff are very nice. The location I thought was great. It's attached to a nice mall. Metro is steps away from the entrance and its only minutes to all the sights. Like I said, food was good. Not great. Not bad. Price was much better for comparable hotels that are more central. Nice pool and gym.
Overall, would I stay here again? Probably. Just not what I experienced at other ritz Carlton's I stayed in.

During the work week it is all business here and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. Customer service is the rule. On weekends it is true there are families with children at the hotel, my own included, who are made to feel welcome and are treated with the same impeccable customer service one expects from a Ritz Carlton. Regardless of when or for what purpose we stay at this hotel, we always come back because the staff ensures that each stay is better than the one before.

Room Tip: Choose a Club Level room

great location, very helpful staff but the room was as basic as a typical 3 star hotel of a major chain. parking is expensive and there was no option to self park. the pool was small, the workout room as expected for most hotels. the tv didn't work on the treadmill. we got a great deal on the room. having the fashion mall next door made for easy breakfasts.

The hotel is attached to the Fashion Center at Pentagon City and the Pentagon City Metro stop, making it convenient to food and transportation. The staff was exceedingly polite and courteous. The hostess and waiters at the Fyve restaurant went out of their way to please. The food was top notch. One morning I had only 15 minutes for breakfast and they accommodated quickly. When a family checked in to the room next to me which had an adjoining door, the room became quite noisy and the staff changed my room at my request. This seems to be a "family friendly" hotel because infants and children were throughout the hallways, rooms and pool. Avoid the hotel coffee and grab a Starbucks in the food court at the mall or at the full service Starbucks in Pentagon Row. Other pluses: Nordstrom Rack and CVS right across the street, Harris Teeter around the corner.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper level room away from the street

I used to stay at the Ritz Carlton because the attention to detail and the service was impeccable. Since becoming part of the Marriott chain the Ritz is nothing more than a fancy Marriott.

I booked on the club floor, one would like to think there is some quiet and greater attention paid. I quickly discovered young children running and screaming in the halls as well as in the room next to me. Upon calling the front desk and explaining I wasn't willing to pay this amount to listen to screaming kids I was given another room. Yes, it was better, however, the hall was still used as a play room.

Maybe they should think of a floor without children. Maybe they should think of excluding the Ritz from the Starwood points offer.

Room Tip: If you wish to have quiet request a room away from families with children, which seem to be in abund...

Ritz at Pentagon City is a wonderful property, right outside DC with easy public transportation. Right down the road is Old Town Alexandria with wonderful shopping, restaurants and overall great place to walk around. The Ritz club level in my opinion is the only way to go with food served throughout the day and cocktails it is a real treat. The hotel caters to many people associated with the pentagon so sometimes there are high levels of security around, which some may find uncomfortable. The staff on the club level are always very helpful and make our stay very enjoyable, it is a vacation on the club level.
