“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My wife, brother-in-law and I spent 2 nights at the Ritz July 20th - 22nd. The location is perfect near the metro and connected to a very nice mall. We actually entered from within the mall. The room was nice, but the beds were exceptionally comfortable. We felt like we were sleeping in the clouds. The water pressure in the shower was outstanding. These things are to be expected at such a high end expensive hotel though. The front desk was so so, but not very friendly. We were also surprised that they did not provide any details or amenity information about the hotel. They just gave us the room key and sent us off. Kind of a dull experience.

Other than that, it was a great stay. The location of the metro made it very easy to get around D.C. The only parking option at the hotel is valet for $32 per night.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the elevator.

We stayed her to go to a Nationals game and were very pleased with the hotel and location, although the standard room is smaller than most Ritz Carlton's. The hotel is located across the street from the Metro station which is closer than any other Ritz's in the area. It is also connected to an upscale mall which is wonderful in the heat of the summer. Within walking distance, through a very safe neighbood, was a block of interesting restaurants in Crystal City. We stayed club level and were pleased with the offerings. Hot food for breakfast, a light lunch and Hor' Dourves at cocktail hour. If we were coming to Washington to see the sites we would stay here again.

My family did a 5 day tourist trip to DC and stayed at the Ritz-Carlton at Pentagon City. It is located over the Pentagon City stop on Washington's Metro stop, which makes it convenient to get to/from Reagan National Airport (DCA), museums and other tourist spots, baseball stadium, and Old Town Alexandria. The hotel is very nice, clean quiet and the service personnel were attentive and friendly. Since we were traveling with kids we signed up for Club Level access to the 18th floor, which allowed us to have a nice breakfast every day, plus lunch, appetizers and light desserts in the evening.

Connected to the mall and easy access to Metro. Room was clean and I loved my robe. The Sunday brunch was a little pricey but definitely worth it. The concierge was so friendly and helpful. A+ service!
The hotel is a little dated but is very well cleaned.
In walking distance to restaurants.

Recently stayed at the Ritz at Pentagon City for two nights. Lovely hotel, very convenient to the Metro and the Mall. They have a separate entrance right on the second flooor of the Mall. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice, turndown service in the evening, ice bucket filled, etc. Nice fluffy duvet on the bed and the sheets are of a high quality. Interesting view out the window, we could see part of the Pentagon and the Washington Monument from our corner room. Pretty cool. Couldn't comment on the restaurant but it looked crowded in the mornings. I've stayed there a few times and will continue to stay there when I'm in D.C.

Comfortable luxury. Close to the metro station as well as adjacent to the Mall. The staff is friendly, but it rings with insincerity. Although the interior is in good repair, it is time for a face lift.

I live outside of D.C. and when my schedule means I'm going to be in the city late into the evening and need to be back in town early the following morning, I sometimes get a hotel close in to town to avoid the commuting hassle. That's why I stayed at Pentagon City's Ritz Carlton.

Like the adjacent Fashion Centre Mall, when it opened, this Ritz Carlton was top-notch. In many respects, it still is. The service is very good, the location on top of a Metro station is ideal, and the rooms and lobby are beautifully furnished. But the years since the opening are starting to show. For example, in my room, I saw cracked paint and rust-stained marble. The linens were frayed. But the room was immaculately clean and perfectly quiet. I found my bed to be a bit lumpy -- you know how people sit on the side of the bed where the bedside phone is? My bed leaned that way.

I also paid two visits to the fitness center. It was clean, but it needed an attendant -- or at least a more attentive one. On both visits, I spotted towels strewn around the locker room and showers. The pool is indoors, which is a plus for families, but the water is quite warm, which is minus for swimmers. So are the short lanes.

But honestly, I got a great deal from Marriott's website, so I really can not complain. But I think Marriott knows this location needs a refresh -- why else was a Ritz Carlton priced less than a nearby Marriott Courtyard for the same weekend date?

That said, this hotel is a solid 4 star property. With a remodeling, it could return to 5 star status as most RC's are, but Marriott and the franchise owner will have to invest the money. If the owner is not willing to invest, I would not be surprised to see this location become a Westin or a Hyatt when the agreement with Ritz Carlton expires.

Regardless, I think this is a good hotel for business people and for families visiting the area. Be sure to check the hotel's website to get the best rate. You will be surprised at what you can score a room for.

Room Tip: Avoid a room near the elevators as you may hear noisy late night guests returning to their rooms.
