“Good basic hotel/value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2007

The Key Bridge Marriott, in my opinion, is a basic, mid level traveller's hotel. My room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and had lots of nice pillows. I could have used an extra blanket, but it was fine. Nice, large TV with cable, etc. Lots of hangers and good closet space. The bathroom was fine, although the toilet didn't flush easily and a few of the ceiling tiles had some mold. No fan. Good supply of toiletries. The rooms weren't very soundproof and I could hear the kids next door. The facilities were fine...although the girl at the pool was LAZY and not helpful. After seeing the pool empty for the better part of the afternoon/evening, when we took a swim, 5 minutes later she ordered us out for her break. NOT a good impression. The restaurant was fine, average food. Gift shop was basic and could have been better stocked. Desk staff was very polite. All in all, a great value for someone who doesn't plan to spend alot of time in their room.

  • Liked — cleanliness, reliability
  • Disliked — the unfriendly pool lifeguard

In a word - BLAH! This hotel must've been built in the 50's or earlier. It has the feel of a poorly maintained budget rest stop. The room I stayed in was extremely cold and poorly insulated - the room couldnt get warm despite running the heater at 78 degrees the entire night!

The bathroom was in need of repair and looked like it had been remodeled on an extremely tight budget. Simple things like the soap dish with cracks in it were common. The ceiling tiles looked like they'd pop out any minute. The counter top was barely large enough to accomodate my toiletry bag.

Others in my group complained of poor water pressure on the 3rd floor (I was on the 2nd, where it was adequate).

I stayed for 3 nights and would not return again. If you can get this place for $65-70 a night I suppose its worth it - but don't expect the usual quality you find in most Marriotts.

There was construction going on while I was there, but we left too early in the a.m. to experience any problems/noise.

  • Liked — They had coffee in the lobby.
  • Disliked — The room with paper-like walls allowing the cold air in.

Booked a one night stay through Priceline for $65.00 (plus tax). Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in went smooth. Room was excellent and very clean. Our room had been renovated and had the new Marriott beds. The bed was beyond comfortable. It has a small pillow-top that they put a feather bed on top of and then then fitted sheet. The sheets were high thread count (not sure what #). There was also a down comfortor on top and chenille throw at the foot of the bed. Each bed had 4 pillows. The toiletries were from the aromatherapy collection at Bath & Body Works. Very close to the Rosslyn Metro station. I would guess about 3 blocks. We returned to the hotel close to midnight and felt very safe in the area. Check out was a breeze. There is a $12 parking fee which for the DC metro area is on the less expensive side. The hotel charges the parking to your room so you do not have to worry about paying separately.

We booked our hotel room for $70 on Priceline. The hotel was built in the 50's and the top floors are undergoing construction. The infrastructure is in need of updating...lobby/rooms look nice, but rest of hotel is shabby. The air handling in the room seemed poor...our room was humid for January. We were impressed with the view from our room on the 7th floor and were about to settle in when my husband found the bathroom tub filled with water and a large dead cockroach lying in front of the toilet!! The desk clerk was very pleasant and gave us an upgraded new room with a view of the Washington Monument. (We left the bathroom light on at night, however, after reading previous traveller reviews.) Comfortable bed. Large windows with a great view of the city. Incidentally -- the hotel is nearly directly across the river from the infamous Watergate Hotel. Hotel restaurant food was overpriced and mediocre, but the staff was lovely. Only 3 blocks away from the Rosslyn Metro station -- only $1.35 to travel one-way to the Mall. Additional charges paid were $12 for parking and $9.95 for in-room wired internet/long distance/local calls. The parking was reasonable to us for D.C. after paying $42/night in Manhattan and $21/night in Philly. Bottom Line: We'd stay here again through Priceline.

  • Liked — Great location and fantastic view.
  • Disliked — The roach problem. Near a nasty looking neighborhood.

Overall it was a nice place to stay with a good views and convenient location to catch the metro. Unfortunately the sound of construction/renovation work really ruined our stay. Not only was the sound awful in our room but it could be heard in the main dining room. We did not know there was any construction taking place until we checked in at 11:00pm when it was too late to look for another place. They assured us the crews would not start the jackhammers and masonry drills until 9:00am but the usually started at 8:40. This may not sound like a big deal but my wife and I were still on west coast time. Also, once they stated it was so loud we could not comfortably stay in the room.

  • Disliked — Noise

We had lowered expectations because of the good rate we got on a room here - but it was a very nice hotel; clean well-appointed rooms with wonderfully comfy beds in a good location. The metro station was only three blocks away - and if our room windows wouldn't have been permanently fogged by condensation we would have a great view of DC. Staff was very kind and helpful - except for a grumpy lifeguard who couldn't hear on his cell-phone because of kids playing. You have to pay for parking- but it is reasonable for the area. They are renovating the top floors - but this was not much of an inconvenience. We enjoyed our stay here despite over-priced margaritas ; ) and will likely stay here again. We'd like to come in the summer when the kids can take advantage of the cool indoor/outdoor pool and courtyard. We will recommend this hotel to friends - if they can get a similar rate on priceline.

  • Liked — Good value- exceptional staff -very comfortable beds - the best night's sleep we got the whole trip!
  • Disliked — Wish we could have enjoyed the view from our room.
  • Tips/Secrets — This was a nice place to "come home" to after taking the metro in and out of DC to see sites- also right near Arlington Cemetary.

I stayed at the Marriott Key Bridge for 4 nights. I would say that it was just average. I thought it would be a lot nicer but I was wrong. The hotel is very old and the building is not pleasing to the eye. The building needs to be repaired. Looking from the outside, it looks like it has some cracks on the wall on the top three floors. The hotel rooms are so old that I didn't want to stay in my room all day. They fitness room was so ugly and the swimming pool was not nice at all. The restaurants are below average and the food wasn't really good. They must be using a terribly old recipe. Overall, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again until they undergo some major renovation.

  • Liked — Very close to Georgetown
  • Disliked — Very old hotel - ugly hotel and it looks very dirty.
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't stay at the Marriott Key Bridge. Choose another hotel instead.
