I was in town for a week for a business conference and made my reservations about two weeks before the trip. I had some difficulty finding availability for the entire week and the hotels that had availability also had extremely high rates, even for Washington, DC. The Holiday Inn wasn't my first choice, but ended up being a great find. Rates were reasonable (for DC) and the service was excellent. Quick check-in and check out, friendly staff, very clean and well appointed, quiet room with free wired and wireless internet, flat screen TV, king bed. This isn't the Mandarin, DuPont or Ritz Carlton, but is very well kept and well run hotel. Rooms are small, particularly the bathroom, and the restaurant is very much like an old school diner, but the breakfasts were huge (and included in my room rate). I extended my stay two nights without a problem and the rate was significantly less expensive over the weekend. It was a couple block walk to the metro, but the Hotel runs a shuttle to both the metro and airport. Great to avoid rental car hassles and the shuttle was particularly important when it was raining. There are a ton of great restaurants and bars within walking distance of the hotel. 23rd street, about a five minute walk, is a great place to start. I will definitely include this hotel at the top of my list for future stays in...More
