The best thing about this hotel was the price. Everything we looked at in the area was pretty pricey. The hotel was a little cramped. It was packed when we went there.
Low Points: We left our charger and a child's teddy bear in the room...of course they don't have it. We actually tried to contact lost and found several times and no one would ever get back with us. The pool is ok...crowded...you only get about 30 minutes of swim time if it has more than 20 people in it. Some kids were unruly when we were there and the lifeguard appeared that she couldn't have cared less. The business center only has 2 computers and was always busy when were there. Parking is about $18.00 per night. We also booked a double bed suite and got a king...they corrected it the next day.
High Points: We had to leave due to a family emergency and they did not charge us for the last night's stay or parking, even though we left around 10pm...I was impressed with that. The front desk staff was nice. The breakfast was great although we did have quite a bit of trouble finding seating. The manager's reception was good...with lots of little snacks and was kid friendly as well.
Tips on the area: The metro is the best way to travel. Not that hard once you learn the lines and the maps. Crystal City uses the Blue Line and the Yellow Line. We did not have to spend that much on getting around and that was great considering that everything is so EXPENSIVE in DC. All of the monuments are a must...if you want tours or inside visits...you better book early and call ahead to see what kind of wait you are looking at for the monuments. The bus tours...if you can afford it...are definitely the way to go because DC is a lot of walking. Overall, it was a once in a lifetime trip that every American should make. If I could do it over, I would bring more money and plan my days out a little better as to avoid walking 20 blocks to see the Vietman Wall...worth it, but our shins were splitting open that night!
