I stayed with my husband and 2 year old son to Embassy Suites Crystal City from March 28th thru the 30th. We were very impressed with this hotel. The 2 room suite was a good size, with a separate living room and bedroom, in between was a small kitchenette area with microwave, fridge and sink. There was also a table with 4 chairs in the living room area.
We found the room to be in good condition, everything was clean and neat when we arrived. The price we paid for our stay was $110/per night +$19 per night to park and taxes. We thought that was a great deal for the Washington area. The hotel is less than 5 miles from all the museums and attractions. We opted to drive into Washington, so we can't comment on the shuttle service, and parked at the national mall in front of the museums. There is plenty of free parking if you arrive early, around 9:30 am, before they open.
The complimentary breakfast at the hotel was above average. There was a buffet selection of hot foods; pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon and hash browns, as well as a made to order omelet bar, and a selection of continental breakfast type food; cereal, yogurt, bagels, donuts, fruit, pastries, etc. We ate there both mornings during our stay. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was very convienent to have breakfast cooked right downstairs from our room, traveling with a toddler.
There is also a complimentary manager's reception each night in the restaurant area from 5:30 to 7:30. We didn't get to stay long (not amusing for our son, he wanted to run around) but I did manage a couple margaritas each night and some snacks. The first night there was a selection of cheeses, and the second was veggies and dip, each night also offered chips, pretzels, and popcorn, and sodas and juices. I think we would of enjoyed it more if we were traveling without a kid, but I liked the idea anyway for after a long day of sightseeing and walking.
The pool at the hotel we only went in once. Our son loved it (water baby!) but it was pretty small and became crowded very quick. We only ended up staying there 20 minutes or so, and when we left there was a sign on the door that the pool was at full capacity.
Overall, we had a great experience with the Embassy Suites hotel. The price for the room was the best we have gotten so far in that area. It was our first time staying with this brand, and we will definately look for them in the future.
