“A nice location for Washington DC Trip!”

Embassy Suites Hotel Crystal City-National Airport

We stayed here for a weekend mini-vacation to Washington DC over Spring Break. The hotel's location is great. Arlington is only two Metro stops away and it's not too far to anywhere you want to go in D.C. You can walk to the Metro. There are several ways to get there. We found that walking through the Marriot Hotel and through the underground mall was the easiest.

Crystal City is very nice. This is a business area with some residential condos and apartments. You can walk to a mall, shops, & restaurants from the hotel. Try McCormicks & Schmick's if you like seafood or Ted's Montana Grill for steak and burgers.

Our room was clean and on the 10th level. The hotel was booked solid but it wasn't too noisy on our level. There were lots of children's groups but they didn't seem to be staying on the 10th or 11th level so that was helpful. Our room backed up to the highway so it was loud at night. We did have limited views of the Potomac River from our window so that was nice.

The pool is very small and you could smell the chlorine from outside of the doors. My son wanted to swim on Friday night but they weren't letting in any more people since it was too crowded. I guess that is to be expected on a busy weekend.

The breakfast selection was okay. Although it is fairly standard at most Embassy Suites, some places over variations. I enjoyed the scones they had in the pastry section here. The bacon was way too greasy to interest me. They left it in large greasy strips instead of smaller pieces for the made-to-order omelets.

I would return here since the rooms were clean and the location was nice.

“great experience at Crystal City Embassy Suites”

The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the bath was equipped with several clean full size towels.

We had 3 meals from the grill that were excellent; the free breakfast buffett and happy hour were a superb bonus.
Free shuttle to Metro station and local restaurants was another added bonus.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Only glitch was that the hotel was crowded over the weekend and we endured a few long waits to get on the elevator. Highly recommend this hotel especially for families with kids.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to go to the DC area for a visit. Like all Embassy suites, the breakfast in the morning was excellent - especially the cooked to order omelets.

The afternoon refreshments were also a nice break after an exhausting day of sight seeing. The snacks were snack type of foods like chips & salsa, veggies & dip, etc. My kids especially liked the virgin pina coladas. The lines were never very long, so it was easy to get refills.

This hotel had a great shuttle service to and from the airport, to and from the Pentagon City metro stop and to and from area restaurants. One night when we were ready to be picked up from dinner, they were having an issue with one of their shuttle vans, so they advised us to take a cab and they would reimburse us the cab fare when we returned to the hotel - which they did.

Nice pool & hot tub area and it was staffed by a lifeguard.

The only thing about the hotel that could use improvement would be some type of exhaust system in the bathroom. If one person was showering, another person could not be using the sink as the bathroom/mirror would get completely steamed over.

Needed to go to DC for a college visit with my daughter. Picked ES to use rewards and because of the good shuttle transportation availible. Was picked up at the airport and used the shuttle in the morning to the Pentagon City Metro, reversed on the return to the hotel and airport.

Hotel was a typical Embassy Suites

This Embassy Suites was a truely nice hotel. I had very few complaints. The facilities were well-kept, and our room was clean and comfortable. The fixtures and decor were classy but not pretentious. The room was not brand new, but it was well-maintained without appearing shabby.

We checked in about 3:00, and the first room we were given had not been made up yet. The desk staff was very apologetic and courteous, immediately giving us a prepared room. The next time we went through the lobby, they recognized, called us over, and gave us a $30 gift certificate for the Crystal Grill (or toward room service)

The manager's reception was outstanding; veggies, ranch dressing, and pretzles/goldfish. I have seen complaints in other reviews, but I don't know why. It's not supposed to be dinner, just something to munch on while you enjoy the free drinks. And I have to add that the several free cocktails were a great way to kick off an evening out. The hotel is easily within walking distance to Crystal City and Pentagon City Metro stops. If you don't feel like walking, there is a regular shuttle. However, the driver was glad to take us, the moment we wanted to go. One of the perks of the off-season perhaps.

The breakfast buffet had good food and lots of it. Every normal breakfast food you can think of was there. (by normal, I mean what 99% of people eat for breakfast, not some Next Top Chef junk) The spread was good enough that neither of us ever bothered getting an omlet, even though the custom omlets were available.

We went to Fedex Field for the Redskins game. Getting to the stadium took about 1 hour, and that was the worst case scenario. We were purchasing Metro cards when the train pulled away. (4 minutes early I might add. Don't trust the online Metro schedule for percise times.) Anyway we had to stand around for 15 minutes, rode the train, and walked from Metro to stadium, still around an hour all told. When you consider parking prices for even the cheapest of lots, this is an incredible savings of money and time, considering traffic tie-ups.

The next day we toured some of the sights in DC. 15 minutes from the hotel to downtown by Metro yellow line. Not bad at all. You can very easily go to the Embassy Suites, take in DC, and not touch your car again until you're ready to go home.

The only small issue was vehicle parking of $18 per night. This is kind of steep, especially if you have a long stay. But I figured we were able to utilize the free drinks and hot breakfast both days, and that was EASILY $35 or $40 retail value per person, per day. They also let us keep the car in the garage until 6:00pm after we checked out, while we were sightseeing.
