“Affordable & convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2010

We were visiting Washington DC but the hotels downtown are outrageously expensive so we chose this hotel instead. The hotel was affordable, clean and comfortable. There was a decent breakfast included. The huge selling point for us was the free shuttle to the airport and the nearest Metro station. The Metro is clean, cheap and efficient and only 3 or 4 stops away from the Smithsonian which is right in the heart of Washington. Also, the Metro stop the shuttle takes you to is beside an enormous mall for those who like shopping. The hop-on-hop-off bus also stops in front of the mall so if you want to take a tour you can skip the Metro altogether and just ride the tour bus into Washington. Either way, we found it incredibly convenient. I would stay there again.

My wife and another couple friend of ours stayed here for 3 days. Oct 10 -13. Arrival was smooth. The room had a slight musty smell when we opened the door but after a few minutes of A/C running , no more smell. The room was clean and in very good shape. Bathroom had fairly new fixtures, tub was good also. Plenty of HOT water for showers and towels were abundant. There was a additional vanity with sink just outside the bathroom that was very handy. A safe was in the room but poorly attached to a light metal stand, that could be picked up and walked away with. Needless to say we did not store anything inside it while we were out.
Complimenty breakfeast consisted of Make your own waffles (very easy and yummy ),cereals, fruits, a large selection of Dunkin Donuts (very fresh) various juices, coffee & tea. No one was counting the amount of food you were getting. The dining area was spotless and the 'food 'area was well maintained for resupplys as needed and plenty of chairs and large size tables that were constanly being damped wiped by two polite ladies.
The A/C was a bit noisy in our room. It sounded like a small jet engine winding up to take off when the A/C kicked in, but not enough to keep us awake . Beds were OK. It had a clock radio that actually worked. TV with excellent reception.
Coffee and tea were available 24 hours in the lobby with a daily newspaper, 'USA Today ', for your reading pleasure to take with you. Staff throughout the complex greeted you with a smile and a Good Morning!
The shuttle vehicle had space for approx 10-12 adults sitting, facing each other across the aisle. It runs every 1/2 hour in the morning till 10 am and then every hour on the hour. There was a problem for taking all the passengers needing a ride due to the shuttle serving two hotels together. Best Western & a Comfort Suites. The Comfort Suites gets picked up first. If you're not the first few on line, FORGET IT!! Lots of taxies lie in wait in the parking lot for those unfortunates who don't get on .. We got on both times we used it. Pure luck!! It took about 10-15 minutes to reach the Metro Pentagon City station. Very convient. Pickups in the afternoon at the Metro Station were also pretty much on time.
Upon checkout, we hit the road at 5AM to avoid the CRAZY traffic on the beltway At the desk, the night clerk handed us a brown paper bag containing a sealed package of a Honeybun and a bottle of orange juice with napkins. A nice touch that was handy after driving awhile. Some additional info. The Comfort Suites had a nice little dining room that is shared by both hotels. Food was fairly priced and had a nice varity of American style dinners. We used it every night and were glad it was there, because we were exhausted after touring Washington, DC on foot for seven hours and riding the bus & train back.. The food was what I'd expect in a small motel setting, but it served us well. I'm not particular nor were the wife and our friends. The food was hot and had ample servings to fill the belly. Again ,very clean tables and not a 'dinner check' to break the bank.
If you're looking for a hotel that has a decent place to rest your head, I'd recommend it. If you're looking for a 'classy' joint, it's not for you. PS~~ We closely checked for Bed Bugs but the blankets and mattresses were clean. No bites. :-)

We stayed in this hotel 5 nights. The first two nights were in a very nice room that was scheduled for upgrading so we were moved to a newly renovated night for the last three nights. It was excellent. The breakfasts were reasonably good and the norm for most similar hotels along the eastern seaboard. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our only complaint was with the shuttle service. Best Western shares the grounds with the Comfort Inn and the same is true for the shuttle service. They only have two vans and the shuttle service starts at the Comfort Inn. It was often full when it reached Best Western so we would wait another half hour for the next trip. Getting picked up at the metro station in the evening was even more troublesome - too many riders scrambling for the limited seats. And the vans only run on the hour after 7 PM

I can't stress this enough: if you rely on the shuttle service at this hotel; then you will get left behind and you will end up spending all of your money on taxis to the metro station. They have only two small vans servicing TWO hotels. 15 to 20 people were left behind every time and told they had to wait half hour for the next one. Utterly horrendous shuttle service. Spend the extra money and stay within walking distance of the metro.

This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in and would not recommend this hotel for anyone. From the owner to his employees they are all terrible and the free breakfast is a JOKE they make you feel as if you are trying to steal something from them. Pool area was a mess the rooms smelled of urine. The toilet was broken and they would not accept the fact that the toilet was broken. If you have a few extra dollars spend on a quality hotel and stay away from this best western you will regret staying there I know we did.

Stayed here for a 3 day conference, check in was pretty uneventful. I do have to give the staff credit, they were prompt and courteous throughout my stay plus gave me a fresh musty towel when requested. The Arlington Police Department does have a permanent parking spot at the hotel/motel to take care of A LOT of unsavery characters that happen to come around in the wee hours of the morning, some drunk, some with the oldest profession. You get a ton of traffic noise from the freeway with sirens and speeding vehicles in the accelleration lanes.

One evening I was trying to get some shut eye but noticed a very bright light coming underneath the wall. Seems like the wall and the floor separated at some point in time and I was looking straight into the other room from underneath A WALL!!!!!!. The floor smelled really bad with a hint of musty, reminded of the World War II tunnels in Guam. The bugs in the bathroom were friendly enough and kept me company and were respectfull enough to leave the shower area while I used it.

Spend the extra money and go to the Hilton down the street, many resturants and things to do PLUS great rooms.

I could not sleep there the last night and departed by 2am to drive home, if you do this make sure you check on your card and balance on the paperwork. Mine did not match and was a $90.00 difference. They were nice enough to FAX the new receipt to me tho.

Did I mention the friendly little bugs!?!

Booked through Expedia based on last minute deals available. The hotel is an old property with a lot of dirt and stains in the rooms showing its wear. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotels near D.C. are expensive so if you get something for less then $150 don't have high expectations. Not a place for family or romance, but worked fine for me alone for one night.
