Didn't have the best time last time but Allan Bella and staff went out of their way to see that my stay this time was excellent. Much relieved that quality is back to normal. It is still the best location and has the highest quality.
Kudos to Allan and his team. I have already booked my return.
One thing - river view rooms are best.

The hotel and ammenities were very nice, clean, and comfortable. The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. In particular, the front desk staff, Mohammed, was incredibly helpful and very responsive, sorting out reservation changes for ourselves and our colleague when our plans changed and we needed to extend our stay. He provided us with insight on the area, parking, and introduced us to the benefits of becoming Starwood Preferred guests. He was very friendly and welcoming. The housekeeping staff were also very responsive when we inadvertently left our "do not disturb" sign on our door. They quickly came once a call was placed to refresh our room. I'm sure they were inconvenienced as there were many activities going on in the hotel (conferences, weddings, etc.) but you could not tell as she arrived to our room with a smile on her face and quickly accommodated our request. Nice hotel, great staff!

I expected a bit more luxury from a Le Meridien. The front desk guy told me that Le Meridien was very near the top of the Starwood food chain. I didn't see it. To be clear, nothing was wrong, but it wasn't anything to rave about. The decor was tasteful. The service was fine, but not always there when I needed a hand. The doorman was rarely around when I came in or went out (and because the entry is on a lower level than reception, some employee presence on the lower level would have been nice at least to help with directions; again - not a big deal but not really top service). The rooms were fine. The bathroom was extremely clean, but other than that it was a standard hotel bath with ordinary tile, and it was on the smaller side (you have to close the door to get to the bath/shower). The hotel is still quite pet friendly (holding on to some of the prior management's policies), and I suppose that is either a plus or a minus depending on your perspective.

If you're a frequent traveler to the Washington DC area and a loyal Starwood Member, you'll be glad to know you have one more choice when visiting out Nation's Capitol.  This hotel, formally The Palomar, was acquired by Starwood back in February 2012. Overall. it's a good solid hotel choice, but not among my top three DC hotel choices. I still prefer the following Starwood Hotels over this hotel:
- W Hotel (my favorite DC Hotel)
- St. Regis
- Fairfax Hotel
Here's why;

Location - Good & Bad- The hotel is located very close to the Rosslyn  metro stop in Arlington. It's a short walk to Georgetown and close to Crystal City on the blue line. The lobby is located on the forth floor in what appears to be a business/residential high raise. Unfortunately it is also very close to the airport and highway which makes it difficult  at night for light  sleepers.

Style - This hotel gets high marks for style and ambiance . The lobby is sleek and sexy with a great fireplace.  The hotel restaurant (Amuse) has a great view of Georgetown and has a great feel. Hallways are covered in dark woods and gives the look and feel of first class.

Rooms - As a Starwood Platinum Member I was upgraded to a wonderful two room suite. Floor to ceiling windows provided a great view of Georgetown (beautiful view). The bathroom had a very, very deep jacuzzi tub and separate shower. I loved the room. The room was well decorated and well kept.

Gym - I  loved the gym . There was plenty of exercise equipment. If you're an avid exerciser, you'll be very happy.  It's the best Starwood property with an on-site gym in town. I believe it may be shared with building residences.

Customer Service - The hotel  is still in transition and it is apparent the staff is too. Employees appear to be learning the Starwood way. They also lack  leadership for consistent policies. Proactive service is unapparent. I believe in time these problems will smooth themselves out.

Bottom line..... Le Meridien Arlington is a welcomed addition to the Starwood DC Family. It has correctly been classified as a category (4) property, but has the potential to move in up to a category (5) in a short timeframe. I also believe it is a good option for using points when visiting DC. Come see for yourself. It's proximity to the metro can get you anywhere in DC in no time at all.

A little inconveient if parking. Several elevators and parking lots to access the parking garage. Hotel was nice, friendly staff. A few restaurants within walking distance. Great price!

Room Tip: Higher floors are much nicer view

This hotel is beautiful, clean, perfectly situated and quiet. We had a wonderful time in the neighborhood and slept so well. The staff at check-in set the tone for the whole visit - friendly, professional, fun - and there is absolutely nothing I could complain about. The room was SPOTLESS! Great view. Comfortable pillows and beds. Even the keys are cool - artists designed. So cool. We will be back.
