I hadn't been to the Village Bistro for several years and returned recently with an out of town guest. The good was excellent. Fish fresh and properly prepared, salads fresh and tasty. Everything was as good as I remember.
Except the service. We were brought several wrong dishes. The waiter was carefully questioned about the preparation of a dish and told us it was not breaded. It came breaded. Three expressos were ordered, both decaf and regular. The wait staff so confused the issue about which was decaf that we insisted that the cups be taken back and made afresh. Everything was corrected with the proper spirit, but the constant errors were exhausting.
To be balanced, I complained at the end and was told that the place was short staffed by a car accident. That's one reason they got four stars rather than a lower number. Also, good food cures a lot of ills at a restaurant.
