“Average, take it or leave it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We arrived aound 2:30p on a Sunday for lunch. We were greeted, seated immediately. Our waittess asked us if we would like anything other than water, we answered no. She handed us our menu's and went to get our water. She returned with water and asked us if we wanted anything to drink other than water, we again said no. She took our order. When she brought our food, she again asked us if we wanted anything other than water. This was getting annoying at this point, so I answered, "For the third time, no." We ordered was: Crab-Shrimp Roll, two pieces for $5.95. I had Mee Gai, Slices of boneless chicken breast stir-fried with egg noodles, scallions, carrots, onions, shitake mushrooms, and bell peppers. The dish was plentiful, took half home. It was good but nothing wow about it. My husband had Bangkok Seabreeze, Combination of shrimps, scallops, squids, and mussels stir-fried with celery, onions, scallions, and egg in a delicious yellow curry sauce. He said it was good. The dish portion itself was small and you had to mix a lot of rice with it in order to have a satisfying meal. Our total bill was $28.18 very reasonable price for lunch. The meal was good but nothing special. I would be interested in trying other restaurants in the area before returning to this one.

“Great option for when you don't feel like the food court!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013 via mobile

While Pentagon City Mall is a great place to shop - there are no real restaurants there outside of the food court. If you exit the food court past the bank/nail place on the food court level you come out to Pentagon Row - a group of real restaurants with a lot of variety. One of these is thaiphoon - a genuine Thai place that is quiet, clean, with excellent service. I agree with other posters that the food is traditional, straight up Thai fare. That said - they do it very well. The daily specials (a chicken dish when we thee there) are very good, spicy without overwhelming the flavor. The pad Thai with shrimp was slightly more - but packed with shrimp. Great Thai flavors in both dishes and the service was excellent. Great break from the craziness of the mall (even the restrooms were singles, clean, and quiet!). Would go again!

“Standard but reliable Thai fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

I have eaten here a number of times when shopping or meeting colleagues for lunch. While there is nothing unusual about this Thai restaurant, i've enjoyed my meals. The room is quiet enough that you can have a conversation without difficulty, especially in the booths. If you are in the mood for Thai food and in the area, it is a decent choice.

“Hasn't Failed Us Yet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

The bride and I have eaten here about four times and it really hasn't failed us yet. The bride tends to pick something different every time and I tend to stay with a staple entree (Shrimp Pad Thai) and different appetizers. Service is sometimes hit or miss and we often joke about the rudeness--reaching over a patrons eating area to exchange drinks or remove plates. Outside of the occasional waiter/waitress faux pas, it's a great place for Thai food.

“Thai Tastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

I traveled to Arlington regularly for four years and Thaiphoon became my Sunday dinner mainstay. The pad thai is second to none, the appetizers are incredible, and the menu has even more! Beautifully decorated restaurant, nice new bar and friendly staff. You get what you pay for and this really is the best and worth it.
