I've been there many times and I wanted to take my non-Italian pal from Jersey City to introduce him to the place. Warning: I'm 100% italian and come from Brooklyn, and I have very high standards when it comes to Italian delis. We ordered a couple of heros and ate them at the tables outside. The varied meats and cheeses were fine, but I found the bread to be a bit chewy. I think they can do better with a crustier and lighter type of bread. As for the other goods in the store, I had a field day. I bought a hard salami, provolone cheese, olives, and smoked mozzarella to add to an antipasto at home. It was all good. I also bought a box of frozen artichoke ravioli for home. It was equally wonderful. It gets busy at lunch time, so allow extra time, take a number and enjoy watching the sandwich makers at work while you wait your turn. This is as close as it gets to the real thing.
