“Modern new hotel ideal for visiting Washington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

This was the best hotel we stayed at during a two week holiday in DC/Virginia and I would thoroughly recommend it to friends. We had a suite with two queen beds and it was modern and comfortable and spotlessly clean with a separate living room and kitchen area. Breakfast was included and was good. We were able to park our car for $15 per night and forget it - although there was in out access had we wanted it. The best way into washinton is by metro which is only a few blocks away. There are not that many restaurants in the area open in the evenings but we found a couple of good ones. Overall a great place to stay.

Overall, a great experience. The suites were spacious and well appointed with modern decor, including full kitchen, desk, sitting area, divided bathroom. Bed very comfortable.

I felt that the suites were well thought out and designed for form and function. Plugs were where you needed them; the suite was efficient but not crammed; it had everything (including popcorn as a snack).

The amenities were great- free wifi, free hot breakfast (more extensive than expected), also complementary "happy hour" snacks Mon-Wed (salads and pork BBQ anyone?). There was a clean indoor pool and two gyms (cardio & weights).

The service was excellent- very friendly, complementary umbrellas when it rained, no mistakes on bill, house-cleaning did all my dishes.

The only small downside is location-- it is probably 10+ min walk to the nearest metro and there is construction right now nearby making access to the sidewalk difficult. However, it is very close to cute cafés and restaurants.

Thank you for your review and for letting us know of the positive experience you had while visiting us. I understand the hassle of the sidewalk next door to us being closed during you stay, but the good news is that there will be a new sidewalk open in one more week. This will provide safer and quicker access to the local shops and restaurants.

Thank you again and we look forward to hosting you again.

Just wrapped up an 8 night stay at the Residence Inn Ballston while in town on business. The hotel is only a few months old so the whole place is like new. My room was clean and well equipped - plenty of power outlets, two flat screen TVs, free ethernet connectivity and strong fast Wi-Fi. The kitchen had a full sized fridge/freezer, microwave, cooktop stove, dishwasher and coffee maker.

The gym has three universal type machines, dumbbells to 50#, three treadmills, some bikes and elliptical machines too. Plenty enough stuff for some creative workouts. Plus there's an indoor pool with lifeguard on duty. The laundry facilities are across from the gym and there are 5 good quality front load washers and 5 dryers. There's also soap/dryer sheets for sale in the laundry room. Everything is $1.

The breakfast was always hot and well tended to by the staff. Make your own waffles, and a buffet of scrambled eggs, sausage or ham, potatoes, and a breakfast sandwich that changed each day rounded out the hot food options. There was also fruit, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice etc. Monday through Wednesday dinner is served free in the dining area. I had it twice - One night was lasagna, one night was barbequed beef. Very good considering the price.

The hotel is a short walk from the mall and plenty of food options. The Ballston Metro Station is a 3-5 minute walk.

Great staff, great location, great business traveler hotel. I hope to return.

Room Tip: My room ended in 01. It was a corner suite, away from the elevators and I'm told it is slightly...

While researching hotels in the Arlington area near a metro stop, I came across this one. My past experience with Residence Inns were older hotels with dated decor. So staying here was a pleasant surprise with the new modern look! It offers a lot of value for the price. A full kitchen (if you choose to cook) and comfortable beds. The breakfast has variety from freshly made oatmeal to other hot foods like potatoes/meats. You also have the basic cereal and juices. During the week dinner is also provided. There is always a salad that you can make (in case you don't like the menu), but the main meals are generally good too! The staff was helpful in giving directions and the overall hotel look is nice. It is a short walk from the Ballston metro and Virginia Square as well. Within a half mile you can get to the Harris Teeter grocery store in case you do want to purchase food and cook. Restaurants are also very close by (PF Chang, Buzz Coffee Shop, Rustico, Sweet Green, The World of Beer, The Green Turtle, and many others). I would definitely stay here again.

This property is only 5 months old, set in the heart of downtown Arlington/Ballston. It is walking distance from the Ballston Mall, Harris Teeter and most of the downtown office buildings. It is a short walk to the Ballston Metro stop.

The hotel decor is somewhat modern, with pleasing colors and clean lines. The hotel serves a really nice buffet breakfast daily which is included in the room rate. The room we had was a king, which had a king bed, sofa (I think it's a pull-out bed), kitchenette (had a 2 burner cooktop plus full refrigerator and dishwasher), small dining table and desk. There is a safe also. The bathroom is a large, glass-enclosed shower and toilet, with the sink/mirror outside of that.

My only complaint is that the A/C vent blows DIRECTLY on you as you lay in bed. Also, housekeeping didn't tend to our room until just before 5PM, which is their quitting time...they need to find a better system or manage their time better.

Overall a great place to stay for any type of trip.

Thank you for your response and I understand how the direct flow of the air conditioner could be a distraction. We have serviced our rooms to ensure that the direction of the dampers are no longer pointed towards the beds.

I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the remainder of your stay and we look forward to seeing you back again soon.

I could not say enough positive things about this hotel!!! The place was spotless, service was wonderful, and the location was fantastic. You have everything you need and more in walking distance. They gym(s) were such a bonus, they have a cardio room and a weight room with top notch equipment. Pool is a great bonus as well!! The rooms are so clean, which I can't say how much I appreciate that while traveling!!! Parking was so nice to being under the hotel, no no need to worry about the weather. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are going to be in the DC area. One other note, the customer service there was the best I have ever experienced in a Marriott property!! Wonderful stay for sure!!!

We stayed three nights as part of a larger group in town for a wedding. This is a super hotel and well-positioned for sightseeing by Metro or car.

The hotel is totally modern and squeaky clean. Breakfast was generous and we loved the fire pit and outdoor sitting area. We parked indoors under the hotel which was convenient and worth the $15 daily fee. The staff was pleasant but the front desk was often busy and might have been helped by a second person. Three computers and it was easy for flight check in and boarding pass printing.

Choose a room ending in 01 for a very quiet room (no common wall to another room) and windows on three sides plus a view of the Washington Monument from the higher floors. We loved our suite!

Wonderful to know that you had a fantastic stay with us! You made a great recommendation for our corner suites as they have plenty of natural light and fantastic views. Our patio with fire pit is always a nice way to unwind and I am happy that you were able to utilize that space while with us.

Thank you for your review and we look forward to hosting you on your next visit to Arlington!
