“Nice, but not a main stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2015

An interesting carillon (bell tower) not far from the Iwo Jima memorial. Likely to be something you'll see driving by, as there's no real parking nearby.

“Simply an excellent vista and the chimes/carillon is outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2015

This monument is definitely worth a stop. The people of the Netherlands commissioned the monument in 1954 to thank the US for our support during and after WWII. It is surrounded by tulips during the summer which is kind of cool as well. But the view from the top is phenomenal! You look out over the tulips, to the Potomac, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Capital in the background. The upper deck is closed in the winter but open during warmer months. This is also a great place to watch the moon rise over DC. Remember, a full moon always rises at sunset, so time your visit accordingly, if you want to get a shot of the full moon.

“Website not up to date and the structure is a let down in need of repair”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2015

The official website leads one to believe that there is a daily recording of the bells played at noon. On the day we visited, there were no bells played so we improvised with our i-phones to hear a concert....Sadly the tower is in poor shape and needs some tender loving care. The biggest attraction is its proximity to the Iwo Jima Memorial, and the view, along with 2 large statues that are good for climbing and posing. If the website were updated to accurately list when we could actually hear the bells, there would certainly be more of a reason to visit.

“Located near the Marine Corps Memorial in Arlington, VA”

U.S. govt & we, as taxpayers should be ashamed of the poor condition it's in.
Recommend visiting in the spring when the weax is warmer & the flowers are blooming.
Great view eastward of DC.

A sobering reminder that so many other countries suffered far more than ours did during WWII ... i.e., occupied, populations decimated, entire cities destroyed!

“Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

I really like this. It's a great spot with a great view, and if you can play the bells, you can climb up and do so! This is an excellent DC viewing point. I love to bring people here.
