The Netherlands Carillon is a gift from the people of the Netherlands to the people of the United States in appreciation for their liberation from the Nazis during WWII. The bell tower is impressive, as are the sculpted bronze lions guarding it. Beautiful tulip gardens were in bloom today.
This performing monument is well worth the short walk from the USMC War Memorial (also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial).
On the hour, the carillon chimed lovely tones.
The restroom facilities are portable toilets.
