“Location is primo - quiet & pretty, budget friendly, nearby eateries, safe area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2009

Our 2nd visit to the DC area and what a great experience the Arlington VA area is! Our first impression of hotel was guarded but after staying a full week we knew we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Traveling with a vegetarian can be challenging but there were many eateries very close to the hotel, including "the best soyburger I've ever eaten" at a nice little place on the corner and a wonderful deli with salad bar just above on the same corner - great breakfasts too, all at great prices. Our stay was much less expensive than we expected because of the close proximity of not only Subway but several fast food places. The frig & micro in the room was a bonus. Walgreens and CVS & movie theatre very close. The area is very clean, very green and quiet. You can walk safely at any time ( a police station is just around the corner however we never heard sirens). We were streetside and the view was great. The metro subway is very close - elevator and escalator access just across the block. We went into DC every day, quick trip. Hotel is on a hill, but it's such a short walk everywhere we really didn't notice. No concierge but staff is very helpful, no bellhops to tip. We never ate at the hotel because of the other nearby selections. Room doors close quietly, unlike the Hyatt we stayed at, and you really don't realize there are other people staying in the hotel! From our first greeting by the "woohoo guy" we enjoyed our stay. It would be nice if the hotel offered its shuttle service to the airport but it does take you to the cemetery and within a certain area, maybe 2 miles? Will definately stay there again. If you're looking for extreme luxury or a pool, this may not be your fav. It isn't shabby and it is being updated - it is very nice with large rooms.

Dear Brandyis15,

I am so glad you and your traveling companions had a terrific time with us last week.

As you mentioned, our location is excellent. It's so easy to get to the city center via the Metro. Many people overlook Arlington, and this is why we are such a well-kept secret!

There are terrific restaurants and casual eateries around us (I personally enjoy the salad bar at the deli next door for lunch also!) and, as you mentioned, the neighborhood is safe and well-lit during the evenings.

I look forward to welcoming you back next time you are in town - and I do hope you try our breakfast or dinner next time you stay - I can assure you it will impress!

Happy Travels,

Rachel Bridger

Stayed here with famiIy for funeral at Arlington Cemetary. Excellent hotel in very nice location. Many restaurants and movie theater nearby within walking distance as well as metro station. Underground parking garage ($12.00 per day) available and location seems to be in a very safe neighborhood. A large farmer's market across the street on Saturday morning with lovely fruits and vegetables and homemade baked goods was nice. Corner Bakery, Wendy's, and many other eating places within a few blocks if you don't want to use hotel restaurant. Hotel was extremely quiet (very little street noise and no noise from adjacent rooms or hallway) which was a nice surprise and queen size comfortable beds a plus. Coffee and tea available in lobby all day long (a plus!) and fruit and cookies during the day. Breakfast buffet was very well done although somewhat pricey (not unexpected of hotels though). The only negatives were the small bathrooms and the very noisy AC fan which turns off and on. Room also has only one large chair (plus desk chair) even though there was plenty of room for a small couch or another chair. There was a small microwave and fridge in the room. Nice business center also with supplies and two computers and printers. Internet was free also.

Dear Skerns123,

On behalf of the entire team, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on TripAdvisor.

I am delighted to hear that you had a pleasant stay with us recently. As you mentioned, we are in a terrific location in Arlington - just a hop, skip or jump away from the Arlington Cemetary, Farmer's Market and the excellent restaurants of Courthouse and Clarendon.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. If there is anything I can do to make your next stay with us even more enjoyable or comfortable, please feel free to contact me directly at any time.

Kind regards,

Rachel Bridger

Was there for 16 nights. The staff is very, very accommodating. The rooms are a tiny bit worn but comfortable and clean. The best part is the easy access to the Courthouse Metro station and there is a movie theater right next to that. Lots and lots of restaurants to include Rays the Steaks (best in town), a superb Thai restaurant in the Courthouse Plaza and other good places to eat in all price ranges. Clarendon is an easy walk and there's a Whole Foods and more good restaurants there to include Hard Times Chili.

I would highly recommend it.

This is a great place to stay! We stayed for 3 nights and were pleased with our accomodations. We drove to DC, so having the parking garage and then a nearby metro station was perfect for us. The location is wonderful. Easy short block to the Orange line Metro. All sites of interest were less than 20 to 30 minutes away by metro. I felt completely safe and there are many places to eat in the area. The hotel is located in a very nice area of Arlington.
The staff at the front desk were all warm and friendly. Our favorite was the "Yay!" "Woo Hoo" guy. He may come across as a little ascentric at first, but trust me, after 11 days traveling and staying in different hotels and experiencing some very indifferent and calous front desk personel, his enthusiam for his job put a smile on our face. We still are "yaying" in his honor. The smile is still on our face when we think of DC.
The rooms were clean and well appointed. I have yet to find a Hilton Garden Inn that does not have top quality rooms. The only tight space was the bathroom door opens into the toilet. The bathroom has plenty of room, but the opening of the door and the position of the toilet were not well thought out by the builders.
We purchased a breakfast plan with our reservation. We were pleased with the breakfast. Omelets to order, fresh fruit, various juices, pancakes, waffels, sausage, bacon, you name it. Excellent way to start the day. Usually never needed lunch since the breakfast was so hearty.
Compared to the prices of DC hotels, this was a good value. We have found that Queen size beds are not available in all hotels, so that made it even better. Traveling with teenages makes a queen size bed a necessity. I would highly recommend this hotel to any family traveling to DC for vacation.

Hotel is on side street away from noise of commercial traffic. Rooms are adequate size for an urban hotel. Room was clean and the mini-refrig was welcome. Staff was courteous. Self-parking in underground garage is convenient and inexpensive by Washington standards -- $12/day.

Restaurants, movie theater, and metro to DC are all within easy walking distance.

Only criticism is wallpaper separating at seam in one part of room wall.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn over Memorial Day weekend. I checked many hotels before choosing this one. My concern was safety and access to the Metro. I was very pleased. The area was very safe day and night. It was a short walk to the Metro. Our room was on the street side and we did not find it too loud. The flushing of the toilets is loud but we laughed about it. It wasn't that bad. We found the service at the front desk to be great. The service at the restaraunt and lounge were terrific. Very polite and friendly. Everyone on staff will help you with getting around. The hotel was close to the DC area by Metro. The Metro is the best way to get around. It is very clean and safe.
