“great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2011

This hotel is in a great location, very near Reagon Airport, the Metro, Crystal City. I will stay here again when in DC. Very pleased.

I had to fly into Reagan Nat'l for a quick mtg - they have great rates - I am Diamond HHonors, I didn't even ask for upgrade and honestly don't know if I was upgraded - room was awesome though - definately a cut above your typical HI. Rate was 50% less than other hotels in Crystal City.
Shuttle picked up promptly with late night arrival, quick check-in, and lots of places to eat a few blocks away on 23rd.
Close to Metro for morning mtg and metro back to Reagan Nat'l.
Nice easy trip.

This hotel is a great find for exploring DC. Very good value with breakfast, cookies in the afternoon, 24 hours coffee/tea station, USA Today and wifi included. Parking is $12 a day which is a bargain in the area.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed comfortable. Room has large flat screen tv, mini fridge and microwave. Note that the room does not have a safe.

A short walk north takes one to the Crystal City metro station with both the Blue and Yellow lines affording easy access to DC. A few blocks south is restaurant row offering a variety of food choices. Staff was pleasant.

The breakfast area is good sized, but gets packed during peak times. There were people who just sat there after breakfast when others were waiting for tables; I was particularly miffed one day with a person sitting at a table for 4 reading a book forever when many were waiting for tables. So please be considerate of others. (Ok, stepping off soap box now.)

All in all a great stay and will definitely stay here again next visit.

In my twenty or more years of making visits to this area, I have stayed in most of the hotels in Crystal City. Some are 'O,K'...some are good, and this being my second stay in this hotel....I rate both experiences as 'excellent.' My room and bath were spotless, the bed was comfortable, and everything in the room worked including the large flat screen TV, fridge and microwave...and the FREE Wi-Fi (I have become more and more annoyed at hotel chains that continue to 'fleece' travelers with Wi-Fi fees.) Bravo to the Hampton. Also, I had numerous contacts with the hotel front desk because of a miserable travel reservation site.....BEWARE of 'Bookings.com'...use at your own risk!!!! Each contact with the front desk was friendly, polite and most professional....something that cannot be said for all the nearby hotels. Also, the free 'hot' breakfast is substantial with lots of food options, hot and cold....in a very pleasent breakfast room, and a business center with computers and printers should you choose to print out airline boarding passes. Airport shuttle was fast and again staffed by friendly drivers. I highly recommend this hotel!

I originally booked a one night stay at this hotel. I took their shuttle service from the airport which was fast & curious. My stay was extended to a second night & the staff was very accomodating in booking me in another room. The rooms were clean & spacious. The following week I returned to be close to the airport for my return & the my experience was the same as the first weekend. Very nice people & great location.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2010

After much on-line research settled on this hotel for a 10 day stay in early November. A large part of the decision making process included TA reviews, proximity to the Metro, overall cost and reported room quality. Because we stayed through two weekends the overall daily rate including taxes was $120/day. Overall it was a great stay. Our room was clean, quite large, with a desk and chair plus a cafe table and two chairs. The beds were very comfortable, and there seemed to be very little ambient noise from hallways or other rooms. The in-room Heater/AC seemed noisy to us. The hotel was built in 2003 and is just beginning to show a little wear, tiny chips on doors, bathroom counters and the like, a rust spot or two around the water supply to the toilet. Clearly it has had good maintenance, no stains or spots on fabrics or surfaces that make you wonder.... Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with maps, instructions and so forth. The housekeeping was a bit uneven, at one point we had 6 bath towels, three washcloths, a dozen bottles of various shampoos and goo and no hand soap. As previously noted in TA the breakfast bar was large, the food decent, but the seating area was a bit small. Food prices at the local eateries (23rd Avenue) were high by West Coast U.S. standards ($6 for a bottle of brand name beer) so we felt that the breakfast bar at the hotel was worth $15 - $25 per day and no touring time was taken looking for an off-site eatery. We did not use the pool, but it looked like a good place for short laps or kids. The fitness center seemed small. The business center had two p.c.s and printers available for all comers, plus wi-fi in the rooms. One oddity, the room television was HD but the cable link through the hotel was analog, about a 480i resolution.
Of possible other interest: Metro from this hotel to the Smithsonian Mall area after 9:00 a.m. is $2.85, a 7 day multi-pass for unlimited rides of less than $3.25 per ride is $35. Or if over 65 with i.d. to prove it you can buy a senior fare card which allows travel at half the daily rate. We found some good places for dinner on Pennsylvania Avenue and along 7th Street, so don't feel like you need to eat in Arlington.

My family stayed here while spending a couple of days touring DC. It was a very economical choice compared to other hotels in DC or Crystal City. Some reviews mention tight parking; I have a huge Expedition and had no issues parking in a sizeable spot. The hotel was immaculate, comfortable, a short 3-block walk to great restaurants, and a 5 minute taxi ride into DC. The metro is close, but we opted for cabs which are about $12 to the museum/mall area. The free breakfast is substantial and offers plenty of choices. Some complain about limited seating...just take your plate to your room if that's an issue. There is a little street noise early in the morning, but you kind of expect that being in the city and adjacent to an airport.
The only reason I didn't give the hotel a 5 rating is because of the reservation experience, which is handled off-site. We reserved two rooms and were assured they were adjacent (this was very important to us, as we were traveling with grandparents who were planning on babysitting sleeping kids in the adjacent room at night.) In any case, we were told upon check-in that adjacent rooms for the type of room we reserved was not possible. Secondly, we reserved one queen suite. The picture on the reservation page is not at all what this room is. It is depicted as a separate bedroom. Upon checking in, it was simply a sofabed in a queen room. Be sure to specify what exactly your room entails if sleeping arrangements are essential.
Otherwise, we would surely stay here again.
