“Excellent choice for a reasonable priced stay when visiting D.C. by car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

We were pleasantly surprised. Hotel is some old but in good shape with comfortable, fairly modern facilities and furnishings. Very clean. Our King room was suite-sized with refrig/microwave, along with other normal room features. Adequate number of free parking spaces. Free shuttle to Pentagon City Metro stop every half hr/hr up to 10pm (planning on staying out later could be pretty costly taxi fare). On-site bar & restaraunt for dinner and breakfast (choice of free continental breakfast or purchased full breakfast if not included in hotel package). Staff was coordial and helpful.

Going to DC was a whim of a trip, I took my mother to see the Smithsonian Institiute(s). When traveling we always stay at a Comfort Inn or 'family' hotel and this particular one we found on the internet via AAA site but did not make reservations in advance. While staying in Zanesville OH at yet another Comfort Inn which was great and knowing we would be in DC by the next day I called ( crossing my fingers the whole time) and very easily made reservations. Upon arrival check in was very easy and most informative. We had no real plan prior to arriving on how we were gong to get to DC, should we drive ourselves should we not and JUDY set us on a path to a very good 3 days. I just can't praise the most helpful and friendliest staff EVER. JUDY was extraordinary and working in the right role for her however EVERYONE at the hotel down to housekeeping were fabulous making for a very pleasant trip.

July 19th and 20th, we stayed here with our family with 4 teens for vacation. The directions were perfect that we received from them. We felt very safe and comfortable while we were there. Everything was very secure. Judy and Saima checked us in and they were excellent with their information and knowledge of the metro and with their information about DC. They were both extremely friendly and helpful on our stay there. The shuttle to the metro and back was good, my wife was in a wheelchair, and they took extra care of her and acted like they honestly did care. On the last day, we decided to go to Hershey, Penn., and Carlos went out of his way to help us get another hotel only 2 miles away from our amusement park, and EVEN got us a great deal, and booked it for us too!! This hotel was very good, and the staff really does care and are extremely friendly, and shows that there's still good people who care and love their job. It was a great vacation. I would recommend it!!

Yes, there are some problems with the hotel, but all in all it was pretty good. We arrived after 2 1/2 hours of fighting traffic and was thus a bit testy when we arrived. Our daughter was flying in to meet us and we noted that there was a King bed and a foldawy love seat but we have two kids (one male and one female and thus required another bed. Initially, we were told that we could not have one but eventually they agreed to put in a rollaway.

We took the shuttle to the airport and had a bit of a wait for the return. the drive told us to wait by door five but did not tell us that the door five he meant was on another level. This was resolved and we made it back in time for supper. I would not recommend the restaurant. The food was okay and the service all right but nothing spectacular.

Unfortunately for us, the weekend we arrived was when the hotel was resurfacing the parking lot. Therefore, parking was at times hard to find. The shuttle to the airport and to the metro station worked well for us (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE IN DC!!!!!!).

The hotel was generally clean but repairs that weren't quite done right were evident. Wall paper strips covered poorly done patch work of holes in the wall. What did scare me was the obvious electrical burns in the outlets in the breakfast area. I am surprised the fire marshall let this slip by.

The staff was quite competent and tried hard to please everyone. However, the weekend we were there, the hotel was playing host to a family reunion plus several tour groups.

Thus, the breakfast area was very crowded and one of the waffle machines was on the fritz so line ups were long and a few of the guests downright rude about it. The guy in front of me made waffles for himself, his wife and two daughters and some woman behind me complained loudly about how he was hogging the machine. I felt bad for the guy as he was doing the best that he could.

There is a good outdoor pool shared with the Best Western. The lifeguard is very diligent and if the pool is scheduled to close at nine she closes it at nine.

To say that the hotel was disappointing would be an overstatement. To say it was excellent would also be an overstatement.

The room that we stayed at Comfort Inn Pentagon has one bathroom with two sinks. One is inside the bathroom, one just outside the bathroom. That made it convenient especially with teenagers who spend long time in front of mirror!

10 minutes shuttle ride to Pentagon City Fashion Center / shopping center and the metro station is convenient.

Breakfast is more than we expected. Waffles, toasts, muffins, yogurt, cereal, fruits, eggs, etc., compared with some hotels that offer only danish and coffee/tea.

We stayed here on a 4 day weekend to DC. For under $100.00 a night we found this hotel to be a good value. Free breakfast, free shuttle to the metro were included. If you are a family not looking to blow the vacation budget on a hotel then give this one a shot.
