“Good alternative to the expensive hotels in Washington DC”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2011

We read many of the reviews of other travellers before booking at this hotel. Based on the reviews we didn't expect much. We (4 adults and 1 young child) needed a place to stay that would allow us to visit Washington DC that wouldn’t cost us an arm and a leg. We were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean, close to the highway and our room rate included breakfast. Breakfast included various breads, muffins, bagels, fresh waffles, whole fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereals, hot oatmeal, coffee, tea and juices. Full hot breakfasts could also be purchased.
One of the best things about this hotel was that they provided a shuttle service to the airport and the Pentagon City Mall, where you could either catch the train into the city or the Double Decker city tour bus.
The rooms themselves were clean and the beds were comfortable. This is not a 5 star hotel so don’t expect 5 star service/amenities. As stated earlier this is a clean place and is convenient for tourists who don’t want to pay the prices of the city hotels (which are at least twice the price or more).
All in all, we would stay hear again.

Each year we reserve 40 rooms for our delegates as part of a legislative visit to our PA Congressional members. We have stayed at this hotel for the last three years and continue to enjoy staying there. It is clean and very easy to get to the Capitol in the morning. The management is very responsive and they also have a very nice continental breakfast. Great place for any type of DC visit.

Given our meeting in DC was smack during high school break and cherry blossom season, this was one of the few places which was available close to DCA...169$ for this 2 star wonder.

First, after arriving at 8h30 at DCA, i called and had the shuttle sent, waited for 40 minutes, then saw the shuttle pass in the wrong lane, without barely a stop, and zip by me...was furious, got a cab, and made sure i let management know about this...they did reimburse me the 17$ it cost to get to the hotel, so I give them that.

The lobby was in pretty shabby state, in need of renovation if you get my drift, finger stains everywhere, musty and not very nice. The room was OK, old CRT TV with decent amount of channels, HBO included, free internet which worked well, typical comfort inn bathroom, clean, but the bed was finished, i felt i was sleeping in a hammock. The gym was a joke, 2 old beat up relics, a bike and a stair master, it this hot little dank closet...what the heck?

Breakfast was decent, coupon system, with waffle maker, cereals, yogourts, toasts, those nasty donuts, but to be fair, a nice selection. free parking at least. The location is 20 minutes walk to Campbell st (Cap City brewing and loads of good restaurants and stores)...but the walk is in a shabby part of town...walker beware. Pool was closed (well, its still April).

The shuttle operates every 30 minutes till 10Am, then every hour after that so beware...left at 11AM without any glitch, but make sure you ask the front desk.

However, when in DC, look for somewhere else, unless you get this for 40$ on PL and you have a car.

I stayed at the Comfort Inn for an overnight stay. I read the reviews on here and thought well it's only one night and they didn't have any recent bad ones. That was a mistake. One thing they don't tell you is that they share the same property as the Best Western and I traveled around to find the proper hotel and lobby. When we went inside the girl at the desk did not stand and greet us until I said hi first. She wasn't the friendliest person but did the basic hotel operations of checking you in.
We got to the room and the first thing I noticed was the patch jobs on the walls. I understand if there's is a small patch in one place but there were patches everywhere! And they were filthy. i couldn't find a safe outlet to plug in my computer or phone chargers without the fear of being shocked.
I was there to visit Arlington and Alexandria so the tv wasn't an important feature of the room but they are as old as the hills. The remotes have numbers and on/off buttons, that's it. The only clothes drawers are the ones part of the tv cabinet. So the drawers are basically on the floor.
I didn't have the breakfast but my mom did and said it was horrendous. The donuts were extremely stale and the coffee was horrendous.
The only good thing was the complimentary WiFi but the connection was slow.
The hotel needs a lot of updating. All the bad reviews on here are correct.

The location was perfect for a short trip to DC! Carols the day manager was excellent! All of the staff was great. They were very friendly and more than happy to help us. This was our first time to DC and didn't know where to start, and the entire staff was great in helping us; from metro maps to shuttle to and fro to nearby metro station. We would definetly stay at this hotel again. It saved us alot of headaches touring DC; money and time. The free shuttle service to and from the metro station was great. We didn't have to worry about our car and parking. You could do all of the things you want in DC and you can relax at the end of your day and catch the shuttle back to the hotel. Don't have to worry about fighting the traffice in unfamiliar place!! It was a great experience!!! You could always say that hotel could be better, but for the price and the location it was worth it. TV could use an update model and the controller was sticking, but the room was clean and bedding was too. Overall experience of this hotel was great!

We were visiting the Smithsonian and our son at school in Northern Virginia. Arlington was convenient to both. The reason we selected the hotel was for the shuttle to the Metro, free parking, and free breakfast. The shuttle ran on schedule and was a hassle-free way to get in and out of DC. The breakfast was adequate but nothing special. It suited our need to grab something and go sightseeing. I'm a runner and after several attempts did find a bike trail not far from the hotel. While we did not have meals near the hotel--we found nothing within walking distance--however, about 1/2 mile away there was an upscale neighborhood with a number of restaurants and shops. I was not able to easily access the internet from the room, even after a conversation with the service provider. There was a computer I was able to use in the lobby. The staff was friendly and helpful. The noise one night from neighbors was a little loud. We would stay at this hotel again.

This is an old hotel that is in need of renovation. I stayed in room 307. The furniture is old and dirty. The wall is thin--I can hear the TV from the adjacent room and could not go to sleep. The water pressure from the shower is extreme low. It took a few minutes to get shampoo out of my short hair.

I discovered the problem with my shower at 11PM when getting ready for bed and the whole hotel was booked because all flights at Reagan National Airport (and at most of the airports in the northeast) were canceled due snow on Wed., Jan. 26, 2011. When I called and complained, they gave me $25 discount in the morning.

I got my hotel reservation from the Nationwide Hospitality Inc. This is the name of the company on a slip of paper US Airways gave me when they canceled my flight. I also called them to complain about the hotel's condition. The operator did not care at all. She told me that it is between me and the hotel and said "we just book the room for you." I would never call this company again for room reservation.
