Stayed at this hotel as it was "race headquarters" for the Cherry Blossom 10-miler. It was a great location in Crystal City with the Metro attached to the hotel.

The room was nice although the toilet tank in our room didn't fill with water. Easy fix for me but not what I would expect to have to do at a Marriott. A call to maintenance was greeted with, "You are checking out today so we will send someone up later." I think that they did not want to disturb us, at least that is how it sounded, as we were packing up. I suspect that if we stayed another day, someone would have come up right away to fix it.

The rest of the staff was great. The conceirge gave great directions. The valets were friendly and very quick. Front desk folks and the waiters at the lounge were nice and attentive. Extra towels were brought up right away. The waitstaff and managers at the restaurant were also fantastic.

The breakfast? Not good. Cold, rubbery bacon and "grainy" eggs. Expensive, too.

Overall, a very nice place to stay and the complaints (other than the food) are minimal.

“Excellent, as usual”

I usually try to stay at the Crystal Gateway Marriott when I fly into National (note that this is one of the two Marriott hotels in Crystal City, and the Crystal Gateway is the better one). Crystal City is a relatively nice and upscale location. The Metro is easily accessible via a passageway that connects to the lobby, and the free shuttle from the airport is convenient. The hotel has all the usual Marriott amenities. The rooms are standard size with relatively new furnishings, those wonderful Marriott beds, and very elegant marble floors and countertops in the bathroom. In my experience, housekeeping has always been excellent and the front office staff have always been quite accommodating. The Concierge Lounge is relatively large and provides a decent breakfast. Overall, business travelers are not likely to go wrong by choosing this hotel for trips to DC or Northern Virginia.

I just want to commend the staff of this Marriott - I lost my cell phone while in the ballroom or bar area, and called several times to the Lost and Found with no luck (noone had turned it in). Then a month after I left, I got a call from Lisa (or Alisa?) at the Marriott, saying she had my phone. She took my address, and the next day my cell phone arrived at my door! Now THAT is excellent customer service!

The rest of the stay was wonderful too - room was great, bellmen were great, bar was great, proximity to the underground mall / food court was nice too. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Close proximity to underground shops and restaurants, also to Metro (no need for a car)
    • Disliked — Loved it all

My husband and I stayed at this hotel one night, I thought it would be better than the Crystal City marrriott but I was wrong. The staff is friendly but for some reason they ignore your requests. I had to switch rooms because I asked for a king and got a double. I also requested a refrigerator, the double room had one but not the king. Not quite sure why they didn't ask which one I would prefer while I was standing there checking in. Anyway, that was a small issue. The main problem was the bed, my back is still aching from the awful bed. I've stayed at many Moarriotts and they usally have very nice beds but not this one, not sure if it was that particluar room or what but the bed was awful. The other thing is the towels were unusually hard. I thought maybe it was just our set but when we got more they were hard too. I just expected more from a Marriott near DC and with such a nice lobby.

This is one of the nicest lounges to visit in Arlington. I love it and go every chance I get. The Friday night jazz is a must see. The food and drinks are scrumptious too. Try their Filet Mignon with Blue cheese mashed potatoes (Under $15) and their Warm Chocolate Expresso Brownie w/cinnamon ice-cream (around $6). You will be in heaven! :-) So if you're looking for a nice place to chill, listen to some nice jazz by the fireplace, dine and be entertained, then Bin 1700 is the place! It's Arlington's new secret! Come and explore it!
