“Perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2010

Convenient and free shuttle to and from the hotel. Easy access to the metro (Crystal City). In fact you don't have to step outside at all because the hotel is connected to the underground shopping center. There's a drugstore right there so you can get bottled water without being raped.

Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

Many great eateries around within 15min on foot. We ate and had drinks at the hotel's bar once and it was just so-so for the price.

Internet: no free wireless in the room. Spotty and slow service in the lobby.

Despite being close to the airport, we heard no planes flown by.

Will definitely come back if we go to DC again.

Really nice hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very convient to the Metro, you never even had to go outside the hotel to access it. ( It only took about 20 minutes to the Smithsonians by Metro.) There are also shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel rooms were very clean. I have stayed in hotels before that I really never felt comfortable walking around the room barefoot. This was NOT the case in this hotel. If we ever visit Washington again, this will be the hotel where we stay. I wish all hotels were this nice. We were all very pleased!

Attended a conference held at the hotel and had a wonderful stay. The hotel was luxurious and upscale. The rooms had the softest, most comfortable beds I've ever slept on and granite countertops throughout. The staff was extremely nice and professional from the front desk to the housekeepers. I'm a really light sleeper and I was initially given a room facing the airport and a busy highway. I asked the front desk if I could be moved to a room facing the other side and they gladly transferred me to one without any hesitation.

Since this hotel caters mainly to business customers, nothing was free. Internet access was $12.95/day, although it's free around the lobby and common areas. Hotel parking is $21/day, but with the crystal city shops nearby and the metro, there really is no need for a car. Room service and the restaurants on-site are expensive.

All in all, this was one of the better hotels that I've stayed in. I will definitely stay here again.

Very nice room, large bathroom with all the amenities. The hotel lobby and rooms were in good condition. The staff were very pleasant and helpful!! The only cons were the tight underground garage (there is a parking fee of $21/day) and the wired in-room internet service had intermittent stoppages (at $12.95/day). The Crystal Gateway is certainly convenient to the Metro and to freeways. The bar is nice and well-stocked with an above-average menu. The bed was super comfortable.

We arrived to a nice room. Beds were very comfortable. Check in went smoothly. Stayed for 3 nights always came back to a very clean room all our request were quickly met. Parking is very pricey at $21.00 a night. We booked for 109.00 a night and added parking to that it was still cheaper than most hotels closer to DC. Metro directly under the hotel. There are several stores under the hotel as well but they close around 8 pm during the week. We were shocked to find that they all closed around 6 on Saturday night. Please do not pay the outragoues $16.95 for the breakfast they offer instead there is a great little diner down the street about 2 and half blocks Crystal City Diner? Great food and very reasonable prices we eat ther 2 mornings always had great service.

We spent one night at this Marriott. Our plans were to tour Washington DC for two days. The location of this Marriott was great. The Metro is located under the Marriott. It only took us 10 minutes to ride the Metro to Washington DC. The restaurants and shops located underground by the Metro Station were an added bonus. We ate two meals at the Hamburger Hamlet. There food was delicious and reasonably priced. (They serve more than hamburgers!)
If we ever return to tour Washington DC we will definately stay at this hotel. Our only complaint is that we were placed in a room on the 4th floor by the swimming pool. The pool closes at 11pm. We were tired after a long day of walking in DC. There was a lot of noise from the pool until 11pm. Just be sure to ask for a room not overlooking the pool. Otherwise the room was very quiet!

I thought this place was great. I was always greeted pleasantly by all of the staff, whether it was the front desk, the valet's , or the cleaning staff. It is great to have a tunnel to get you to the metro or shops. My two friends love the beds, I thought they were too soft so I took the rollaway and all were happy. I give it two thumbs up.
