“Close enough, But Near Below Average Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

When I Go Into My Room, Bottles & Used Cups Were Every Where, I Was Moved To A Clean Room, But Was Smothered By The Heater And Couldnt Cool The Room Down Because They "Turn ThE a/C Off In ThE Entire Building For Winter". Final Icing Was The Unwillingness For The Hotel Clerk To Allow Me To Purchase Postage To Mail A postcard. Seems Like A Service Even A Bed & Breakfast Could Have Provided. Not What I Expected FRom A Large Chain hotel.

The hotel was in a safe location and the rooms were relatively clean, but the front desk staff was absolutely horrible. We had booked ahead of the time by calling Holiday Inn, and we paid for a room with 1 King bed. However, the systems were down when we went to check in, so they just gave us keys to a room that turned out to be adjacent to the elevator shafts (annoying "dings" all night) with 2 DOUBLE beds. We went downstairs to ask to switch to one with a King bed as we paid for that room type and it was more expensive than one with 2 doubles, but the front desk staff said "No No I can't do anything" and literally walked away from us. Horrendous service - would never go again!

If you're in the area, I'd choose the Holiday Inn at Ballston instead - it looked much nicer, in a safer location with more shops/restaurants around, and had a very friendly front desk concierge.

I love to come here with it's free parking and metro access. The staff is very helpful even through their updating efforts. We love the breakfast buffet that gives a great start for adventure in the city. Kids love the pool (GO FIGURE) Always a great spot to stay!

Find another place to stay. This hotel is old and out-dated, yet still expensive. I stayed here 1 night while interviewing for a job in the area. I tried to add my Holiday Inn member number, but the lady could not add it for some reason. So I got my room key and went up, and the room was a decent size, but just very old looking. It did not feel very clean to me at all. The bathroom is small and didn’t feel clean either. When I called down to ask for more soap/shampoo, the lady told me to come down and get it! I have NEVER had that happen to me ever before in any hotel.

In the morning, workers were doing something down the hall and it was loud and obnoxious. They should at least wait till the middle of the day when all the guests are up to do work like this. When I went downstairs to check out, I told the front desk lady (same as night before) Company X is paying for the room and it should be noted by the company. She could not pull it up and told me she had to charge me for the room. Seeing how I had to get to the interview, I let her charge my credit card. When I got to the interview, I did mention the charge. The HR department had to call the hotel to straighten it out and I was eventually refunded the money on my credit card. Still, the lady at the front desk (same as the one who told me to come get the shampoo/soap from her at the front desk) should have known that the Company contracts with them. The breakfast on the top floor was average, but there were nice views from up there. For this type of money, do not stay here.

With a group of students, I scheduled a two night stay in the hotel while we were visiting organizations in the D.C. area. The hotel front desk staff were very helpful, and assisted us in our complicated way of paying the bill. My room was booked slightly differently than those for the students, but the hotel billed us the same, and included breakfast in the cost - a real savings for the students. Rooms were very comfortable, clean and well light. Free wi-fi. Bathroom was dated but very clean also. Towels were large and soft. Beds were great, with selectable pillows. Parking was free, a real plus for D.C. Metro was just slightly over a block away. All in all, a good deal and certainly worthy of recommendation.

Room Tip: Select rooms on east side and high so you get a view of Washington.

Nice & clean Hotel, very close to the Metro Station that can get you easily to Washington DC main tourestic areas.
The std.rooms are small, and is suitable for 2 adults and 2 small kids.
The Price of accomadation was fair (break fast costs around 19 US $ / per adult, kids under 10 are free, seniors are also free).
Free parking & free Wi-fi.
unfortunatly there is no sign on top of the building, and you cannot see/know that this is the exact hotel from far away, you have to get closer to see other sign on first floor.
Airplanes trafic are noisy at night.

Room Tip: pick the rooms with the view on the river

Stayed here over the holidays.
We did not enjoy our stay mainly because of two factors. Room X14 is right behind the elevators and it is very noisy.
Only 1 of 3 elevators for visitors was working. Sometimes the wait was 10 minutes for the lift.
Location is good - 1 block from Rosslyn metro stop.

Room Tip: Don't choose any room ending in 14 as it will be behind the elevator and noisy.
