“Worth a visit, but only if you are also doing Pentagon tour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

This memorial is just okay. A single bench for each person lost in the 9/11/2001 attack on the building. Great tour in combination with a Pentagon tour (you must go to the website to reserve a tour). A Pentagon reservation is not required to see the memorial. Get out at Pentagon Metro station (blue/yellow line) and follow the signs around the building. Free.

“Paying our Respects”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

We went to the Pentagon Memorial this past weekend. It is quite the hike from the Metro station in 90 degree heat. It is on the opposite side of the building. The memorial is moving and a nice tribute to those who died here in the Pentagon and on the plane. They have cell-phone guided tour when you call a number. They have a short and long version. Overall, I think it is worth a visit to pay your respects. Total time there would be about 1/2 hour.

“very moving”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

It's a very moving memorial, & a very nice park area. The main negative is that you have to walk really far to get to the metro or other transit.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

Despite a bit a walk from the Metro, this Memorial is worth the visit to honor those lost on 9/11. It is quiet and the benches invite you to sit and reflect. We knew someone who died at the Pentagon, and we were able to find his name and bench. The kids were able to climb on the bench as we explained to them what happened and why we were there. It is also nicely lit in the evening. We also visit here after every Army 10 Miler that we do and we enjoy seeing other families and their children discover the memorial.

“A lovely respectful memorial, worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

We came to Washington DC in March 2012. We had dearly wanted to do a tour of the Pentagon but our goverrnment does not organise these tours any longer. We decided to still travel out to the Pentagon to see the memorial, as September 11 is still very much etched into my memory. The memorial space is quite a long walk from the metro station, but definitely worth it. We met a gentleman who now works at the Pentagon and he explained how the space was designed and the significance of the benches. It was a freezing cold morning when we were there and imagining how things unfolded on that morning gave me quite a chill. It was quite a moving experience.
