“A hidden gem in the DC area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Travelers to the Washington DC area can always stay in the well known neighborhoods of Crystal City, Old Town Alexandria, Bethesda, etc, however I highly recommend giving this Hilton property and the neighborhood of Shirlington a chance. A modern hotel with all the amenities a business or lea sure traveler needs, tucked away in a "foodie" and outdoor lover's heaven. Great local restaurants, live stage theater, and recreation trails all within walking distance. You literally can park your car upon arrival and not have to drive it for days...there is that much to do!

I stay in a lot of Hotels, especially HGI's because I think they are best value. The HGI Shirlington is the nicest HGI I have stayed in. It has resort quality services and personell. It is very convenient to both DC and VA, and provides much more competitive rates.

Past Trip Advisor reviews were accurate. Excellent location, excellent restaurants on Campbell, cool neighborhood, shuttle to metro was efficient, excellent breakfast and customer pleasing breakfast staff, would recommend and if back to Wash.D.C. will stay at this hotel.

This hotel has everything you need in a hotel and is very nice. I labeled this review great because everything was great. Lobby, People, Rooms, Pool, Spa, Food, and the location. If you are going to DC area this is perfect location to get in and out without lots of traffic. And shopping and food in this location is over the top.

Parking is in garage across street - not a short hike. We parked on 4th floor as directed by signs. Then desk clerk told us to move car to 3rd floor, which we did but noticed sign about towing. Different desk clerk said to park on 4th after all -- which meant still another trip to garage in pouring rain.
Bed was very hard and supposedly adjustable, but we could not get it to adjust. Called front desk, who sent a maintenance guy. He said he moved the adjusting knobs (like we had), but had not actually bothered to see if firmness changed (it was still like a rock). So much for the Hilton policy that it is right or it is free....
Website advertises free shuttle to metro, but does not mention that it only runs once per hour and that a reservation is sometimes necessary.
Many nice restaurants within very walking short distance, and a Harris-Teeter grocery right across the street (parking garage is behind it).

Room Tip: If the bed is like a rock, change rooms immediately before it fills up.

Convenient and friendly are the operative words to describe this hotel. Convenient to activities in the heart of DC by metro, friendly staff and service. The room was spacious and clean. The location made it good, the free parking for guests made it better. And the staff provided professional advice, timely and courteous assistance in getting around. Pickup to and from the metro station made using mass transit easier and cheaper. Due to its proximity to DC the price was a bit steep. No breakfast was included but infused water, tea, coffee and cookies were tasty.

Room Tip: A view of a brick wall from the sixth floor did not add anything positive to this experience.

After staying in the Omni in DC for 3 days, I was ready for a change. The Hilton Garden was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is brand new and the amenities are great. It is right across a Harris Teeter and many other stores... very convenient. I will definitely return.
