Our professional group stayed here for 5 days. Some members complained bitterly about staff, but we found the front desk and bar staff completely affable and accomodating. Our room was large, and the bed extremely comfortable, with very soft linens. Bath smaller than might have been expected, but not to the point where one felt like one was in a New York City hotel. No noise problems.
We did not have breakfast here; a block away is a row of restaurants, including Caribou Coffee and Cosi. (I believe the seafood restaurant is McCormick & Schmick, not Legal Seafood, although in Reagan National, there's an LS.) And you're a half block indoor walk from part of the Crystal City underground shopping with Dunkin Donuts and other things. In the afternoon, there are cool drinks in the lobby, and one day a week, it's a wine punch.
We saw no construction, although on Sunday, it was clear they were painting somewhere. One of the three elevators was out of service that day, and the fumes were circulating. Housekeeping in the room was excellent, but there was a small piece of paper on the carpet outside our door that remained the entire length of our stay.
For those driving, this can be a difficult place to locate. Watch for the signs for Arena Stage, a theater group that's temporarily moved right next door to the hotel. In fact, Washington is a fine theater town, both in the District and in Arlington County.
