“It was okay, not the greatest”

My job put me and few coworkers at this hotel for a few nights for a conference we were having in the DC area. The hotel is very nice and is right on top of Crystal City Shops and is very close to the metro station and airport. The main things I did not like about this hotel is that they charge $18 a day for parking, $10 a day for internet access, had no refrigerator or microwave in the room either. Also, there is really nothing to do in this area at night, because there are only a handful of really nice restaurants and there is mostly just office space and hotels in the area.

    • Liked — the rooms were very clean
    • Disliked — charges for internet in the room and business center

“Great hotel, convenient to metro”

I choose this Marriott due to its location to the metro. It was super easy because it was connected underground to the metro and a mall. My kids loved it because of the large indoor pool, my husband and son loved the exercise room and sauna. The exercise room had the newest equipment. It did have underground parking that was very convenient to the hotel elevators. There was a daily parking charge, but you have in/out privileges. It was only a 5 minute drive into DC. We would definitely stay here again. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were extremely clean as you would expect for this brand hotel, and I got a great end of week deal on their web site.

While some parts of the Marriott Crystal City were very good (spacious room, free rollaway bed, breakfast, very convenient to the Metro), we were shocked to be woken at 11 p.m. with construction next door to our room. We heard drills and pounding. The desk was very responsive and immediately stopped the construction, but how in the world does this happen in a hotel at night?! Since I'd booked through Expedia they said they could not comp me a night since it was already paid for. They offered me free breakfast (come on -- three of us lost a night of sleep after that) but when I pushed they offered a night free at any Marriott. The front desk and a sign said there was no shuttle to the airport before 6:05 a.m. They lied. After our taxi ditched us at 5:45 luckily the shuttle was there and the driver said they always ran at that time. That's an important detail for travelers ...

The Marriott Crystal City is a great Hotel. My wife and I stayed for three nights (Thurs. - Sun.). We chose the hotel because the proximity to the airport and the Metro. All ofthe staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly. I was suprised at how clean the room was. The room appearred to have been recently renovated. Access to the metro is through the Crystal City shops and is nice so you don't have to walk outside. All of the sights are just a short subway ride. Eventhough there were a large amout of kids staying athe hotel there was no problem with any noise. I was happy with the price I paid $139 compared to room in NYC that would go for $350. The Marriott Crystal City would be my first choice when coming back to Washington DC.

We usually stay at the Crystal Gateway when in Arlington for business, but they were full for two of the four nights we needed to be in town, so we spent the last two days at the Crystal City at Reagan National Airport. It was a pleasant suprise! The lobby is not nearly as grand as the Crystal Gateway, but the rooms were just as nice, the bed just as comfortable, and the bath was very nice with thick towels. Our room had a large screen television, a refrigerator, coffee pot and we were given a copy of the local paper daily. The gym was great and the pool looked clean and was warm. The hot tub was closed during our stay.
I like the close proximity to the Metro, you can be at any of the most popular tourist destinations within 20 - 30 minutes. You are also a short walk away from the Mount Vernon trail.
We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant on site, the wait staff and service we received was perfect!! The food was very well prepared. I liked this hotel a lot and would recommend it, the only negative comment I have is that in the afternoon, we heard what sounded like drilling in the room above us for an extended period of time. It sounded like a major construction project, and we always check beforehand to see if any construction is planned during our stay, so we can avoid loud noises and areas. There was nothing that stated there would be work done on the hotel. I will say the work sound was well after 9 am, but if we had wanted to take a nap, it would have been impossible.
