We usually stay at the Crystal Gateway when in Arlington for business, but they were full for two of the four nights we needed to be in town, so we spent the last two days at the Crystal City at Reagan National Airport. It was a pleasant suprise! The lobby is not nearly as grand as the Crystal Gateway, but the rooms were just as nice, the bed just as comfortable, and the bath was very nice with thick towels. Our room had a large screen television, a refrigerator, coffee pot and we were given a copy of the local paper daily. The gym was great and the pool looked clean and was warm. The hot tub was closed during our stay.
I like the close proximity to the Metro, you can be at any of the most popular tourist destinations within 20 - 30 minutes. You are also a short walk away from the Mount Vernon trail.
We ate breakfast and lunch at the restaurant on site, the wait staff and service we received was perfect!! The food was very well prepared. I liked this hotel a lot and would recommend it, the only negative comment I have is that in the afternoon, we heard what sounded like drilling in the room above us for an extended period of time. It sounded like a major construction project, and we always check beforehand to see if any construction is planned during our stay, so we can avoid loud noises and areas. There was nothing that stated there would be work done on the hotel. I will say the work sound was well after 9 am, but if we had wanted to take a nap, it would have been impossible.
