I stayed at the Marriott Crystal City for business for two days while attending a conference at a nearby hotel. I chose this hotel for it's proximity to the metro, in addition to the fact that the metro was accessible w/out going outside. The only downside was that the walkway to the metro included some stairs without a ramp or elevator -- wouldn't have been a problem but for the fact that my husband and 15 mo. old were traveling with me so we had to literally pick up her stroller quite a few times.
The same walkway to the metro included several shops and restaurants, and Fashion Centre was only two stops away. (Certainly didn't mind when my husband decided to surprise me with some purchases!) The metro system in DC is ideal and very easy to use.
The hotel shuttle offers an easy option of getting back and forth to the airport. The front desk was very helpful when I thought I had lost my cell phone (turned out it fell out of my pocket on the shuttle.) They were courteous and took the time to radio each shuttle driver to see if they had found anything.
We did not use any of the facilities in the hotel, but did tour the hotel upon arrival -- the pool/fitness area seemed a good size and very clean. We ordered room service at one point, and we were happy with the service and quality of the food.
If there was anything I would say I disliked, it would probably be the price I paid per night ($313) -- but it's somewhat unfair to complain about that when it's reimbursed!
Overall, we had a good experience, and my husband found plenty to do nearby while I spent my days at the conference. Whether I would stay here again would depend on the nightly price for the room.
