“Great social event”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

I tagged along with my daughter's girl scout troop who were learning about Spanish food. Ten of us went for lunch enjoying tapas and a great atmosphere. We did the lunch special, $20 all you can eat, and kids under 12 are half price. There were lots of great choices. The kids favorites were the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and the potato and onion omelet. I loved the sliced steak, the fried shrimp, and the bleu cheese stuffed dates wrapped in, YES!, bacon. Located across from Facia Luna on Wilson Blvd, there is plenty of parking in a garage just off clarendon. Looking forward to my next visit.

“OverBlown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Small plates, bland taste, staff that appears to want to be elsewhere. The sangria wasn't very tasty either. How do you mess that up...?

“Great Happy Hour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Always a good deal at HH - and good service too. Sangrias are worth trying. They should have more than soccer on TV there, but Flamenco dancing is worth watching too. Should make better use of upstairs during the week- but not sure how. But NOT too loud live music (and pretty much any live music is too loud to talk, think, enjoy .... )

“Mediocre is the word that springs to mind”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

Despite mixed reviews of this place online, we decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I agree with those describing it as mediocre.

Everything we ordered was very greasy and most of the dishes were bland. We ordered octopus and it was overcooked to a rubbery consistency. The bacon-wrapped pork medallions also did not impress, as the bacon was undercooked. We also ordered a dish described as "wild" mushrooms, only to find that they were just sauteed button mushrooms. In looking at the menu, the prices seemed reasonable, but the dishes were really tiny. I would not call six dollars for a few button mushrooms or seven dollars for four cocktail sausages a good value.

As far as being authentic, that may be true. The dishes offered were similar to what we found in tapas restaurants in Spain and did not try to be pretentious fusion concoctions. Truthfully, we found a lot of overpriced and mediocre food in Spain, as well, so maybe "authentic" is the best thing I can say about La Tasca.

“Delicious food and nice atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012 via mobile

Hubby and I ate here on a Wednesday evening during a brief visit to the Washington area. Our meal was a thoroughly delightful experience. Guided by a knowledgeable waitress, we had fried eggplant starter tapas, which were fantastic. We then devoured a mix of cured meat and cheese sampler tapas, spinach and asparagus, and paella valenciano, which was full of flavor. The dessert sampler consisting of flan, tres leches cake, chocolate churros, and a chocolate specialty was outstanding. We had a difficult time deciding which of the four desserts we liked best! Our waitress suggested a few other items based on our stated food preferences, and everything was delivered to the table in a timely manner. Mojitos with passion fruit accompanied our choices. The quality of the food, diverse mix of favors, and attentive and knowledgeable service made for a memorable dining experience. We would definitely eat here again!
