“large rooms, great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2010

My husband and teenage son travelled to Wahington DC for an event at Georgetown University. I spent a great deal of time looking for suite rooms in the area. I found two hotels in Dupont circle and several in foggy bottom and Georgetown. All were very expensive and the rooms were small. I took a chance on the Virginian, located just across the Key Bridge in Arlington. It is not a chain hotel and I had not heard of it before, but the price was right - like a hundred less per night than the other places. Well, we got there and there was plenty of parking (for 7 dollars as opposed to 30 dollars and more in Georgetown/Dupont circle). The lobby was a bit dark, but the staff was SO friendly, especially George, who was really helpful. We got to the room and WOW, it was huge!. There was a separate bedroom with closet, a very large sitting area with a sofa bed, large eating area, and a sort of full kitchen - it had a full fridge and a stove and microwave, but was very small with almost no utensils. However, I bet the staff would get you more if you asked. The beds were comfortable, and you could open the windows. There is no restaurant, but there is one a block away, as well as a convenience store. The Metro is close. REally liked this place!

A friendly and helpful staff is what we strive for here at the Virginian Suites Arlington! We are delighted to hear you found our room rates to be what you were looking for, as hotel rates in the city, itself, tend to be more expensive. We apologize for the lack of utensils, and we will be sure to triple check all of our rooms to make sure they have all the proper amenities, including sufficient utensils for our kitchens. Thank you for the excellent review!

Ok, where to start? Based on the inexpensive hotel price compared to others in the area, we weren't expecting much for the King Bedroom Suite we booked. But from the time we arrived at the Hotel we were shown 5 star service which made our stay complete.
The front desk staff were amazingly helpful and courteous. Neal is a gem, he really has a knack for making people feel genuinely welcome and comfortable. On arrival the desk staff gave us helpful information on what was in the area and how to get there, but if there was somewhere we wanted to go and they were unsure, they got directions online and printed them out for us-no hassle, no worries. Anything we needed and called to the front desk for, they had available to us within 5 minutes.

The Suite itself was clean, large and welcoming. A full kitchen was nice to keep a few snacks and items to cook in case we didnt want to spend money on going out to eat. The rooms were nice sized, with a lot of closet space, my only small complaint would be that the bathrooms were very small, but that didn't hinder us in any way.

The bonuses that made this hotel soo very worth every penny- The free shuttle to and from the Metro station and store every weekday. The "continental breakfast" was very nice, with a larger selection than you see at most hotels (and was included in the price). Wednesday night is Pizza night, free Pizza and a chance to mingle with the staff. Free Wi-Fi that worked wonderfully. ( we didnt bring a modem plug but the staff cheerfully had one brought up to us). Our package had free parking (onsite) so we parked virtually right outside the hotel door. There is a swimming pool (outdoor , open after Memorial Day), sauna and workout room. Hotel location was quiet and safe. And, did I mention the Hotel Staff?

We have raved to everyone about this 'hidden gem' of a Hotel , right in Arlington. Because of our stay, we will be back again next year...and if management is reading this, my only only only suggestion would be to make the Penthouse rentable...we'd love to stay there next time we come!

Just stayed here for a mini-family vacation.

The location is great and convenient. It's located within walking distance to WMATA's Metro station at Rosslyn. From Rosslyn Station, you can access virtually the entire metro area and then some (incl. the three major airports and Union Station). There are also several restaurants nearby, as well as Arlington National Cemetery. The hotel has a free shuttle that runs most hours from the hotel to Rosslyn and back. Though, the walk isn't that bad - it's around 5-10 minutes.

The suites are spacious and include a small kitchen. Internet is free (wired and WiFi).

The staff was always friendly and helpful and were able to answer most questions, including concierge-type matters.

The rates were relatively decent when compared to many of the other hotels in the NCR.

Overall, a nice no frills hotel that is convenient to virtually everything in the area.

The WMATA metro truly is a link to the entire Washington Metropolitan area. It is fast, clean, and very efficient . We are glad you were able to take advantage of it. Being so close to the metro is one of the many advantages we enjoy here at the Virginian Suites Arlington, which also allows us to keep our rates down while still offering the services our guests expect. We are happy our staff was able to assist you with all of your questions.

Suites it is. Room had full kitchen with gas stove, fridge, micro, dishwasher and dishes. Large desk, couch, 40" flat screen with a separate dressing room off the bath. WiFi was excellent. The hotel is located a 10 minute walk to the Rosslyn Metro and Arlington Cemetery situated in an area of condos and homes on tree lined streets. A shuttle runs at peak hours to this Metro station. Dining options are also available within this distance. Parking is charged at $7/night on site but outside with security patrols. Staff were friendly but had trouble finding our reservation upon arrival.Rates were a little high but not compared to other Washington area hotels

I tried to place a booking by the phone, it was done incorrectly by the clerk and they put me through hell to try and get it changed. I had to leave a message on the reservations manager's phone, I do not have my hopes up, there goes my 140 bucks.

GOT THE BANG FOR MY BUCK!!. I took an extended weekend to visit a friend that lives in D.C. I have no complaints. I arrived very early to the hotel and was able to check in early on a friday. The hotel is within walking distance to the metro and a starbucks. The Reagan airport is literally five minutes away by taxi. Great place to stay if your with family and friends, and trying to stick withing a travel budget. FULL KITCHEN.!!!! so that you can prepare whatever meals if you like. When visting D.C, I will definitely stay again.

Heres a few tips.. the metro is the best way to navigate the city. Taxis are usually waiting around on some of the stops. The capital city spa inside the Hilton near the white house is great! There is also a great restaurant across the street from the Verizon Center, BEST MARGARITAS EVER!!! Wear comfortable shoes. OH YEA and the Virginian has FREE WI FI.

This is not the Ritz. But the staff treats you like it is. We had the 1 bedroom suite with a pullout couch for my daughter. Comfortable, superb people, clean, good location, free continental breakfast during the week, wifi and good price. We will come back. Staff was so nice!!!
